Women’s Volleyball Falls to Bryant at NEC Tournament

» Saint Francis University women's volleyball fell to Bryant University in the semi-final game of the Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday. 
» Despite the loss, the Red Flash end this season with an incredible finish with this being the first time this Red Flash squad and coaching staff have been to the Northeast Conference Tournament.
» Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch) and Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa East) led the day in kills with 13 and eight, respectively.
» Aubrey Deptula (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton Community) led the Red Flash squad in blocks with five on the day.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Adams got the Red Flash on the board first with back-to-back kills to put Saint Francis up 2-0.The Red Flash squad controlled the first set early on. However, the Bulldogs were able to take the lead and make the score 7-6. Bryant led by as much eight points to make the score 22-14 in this set for the Bulldogs to claim the first set, 25-17. This was the fuel that the Bulldogs needed to claim the next two sets to ultimately claim the match, 3-0.

"Bryant played a great game tonight" said Head Coach Sara McMullen. "They handled the ball well on serve receive and had a very balanced offense. I'm proud of how hard we fought and the accomplishments we have achieved this season. It's a great motivator to get us back here next year."

FLASH MOMENTS
Bryant controlled the second set. However, the Red Flash were able to come within a point on a few occasions, once after a kill from Hogan to make the score 10-9 and another time with a block from Deptula to make the score 13-12. The Bulldogs claimed the second set, 25-17.
 
The Red Flash started off the third set to go on a 3-0 run and take its biggest lead of the match to make the score 7-2. Bryant took its first lead in this set to make the score 11-10 to turn the third set into a back-and-forth battle with both programs tying on several occasions. Saint Francis hang in closely with the Bulldogs throughout the entire set, but Bryant was able to pull through and claim the third and final set, 25-23.

Tyus led the Red Flash with two serving aces on the day.
 
Rookie Maggie Means (Connellsville, Pa./ Connellsville Area) led her Red Flash team with 12 digs in the match.
 
Senior Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) put up 29 assists for the Red Flash squad on Friday.
