Women’s Basketball Drops Home Opener Against Longwood

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Kaitlyn Maxwell scored a team-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
» Jada Dapaa fell two points shy of a double-double, with eight points and 12 rebounds.
» Lili Benzel and Sam Miller had two steals each and Jenna Mastellone had two blocks.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Saint Francis trailed by as many as 20 points before storming back to within three, 53-50, with 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter. Kaitlyn Maxwell hit back-to-back three-point shots, around a Longwood layup, that cut the deficit to three.
 
After an Akila Smith layup for Longwood, Lili Benzel hit two free throws that kept the game within three points, 55-52. The Lancers responded with Kyla McMakin layups at 1:19 and 28 seconds remaining that sealed the Longwood victory.

FLASH MOMENTS
Kaitlyn Maxwell hit back-to-back three-point shots that cut the Longwood lead to three points late in the game. She finished with a team-high 15.
 
Lili Benzel reached double-digit points for the first time this season when she converted two free throws late in the fourth quarter.
 
Saint Francis outrebounded Longwood 52-36, led by Jada Dapaa's 12 and four other players grabbed six rebounds each.
