GAME NOTES VS. HARTFORD
need to know... The game between Saint Francis and Hartford marks the third meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 2009-10 season.
• The match up is also called the Jack Phelan Classic. Phelan was a Hall of Fame player for the Red Flash, and a Hall of Fame coach for the Hawks. He passed over the summer.
• The home team has won the previous two meetings in the series with the Loretto program taking a 64-52 decision in 2009-10 and the Hawks earning a 60-55 victory the following season.
• Saint Francis is 15-22 against current members of the America East, but that number is inflated because UMBC used to be a member of the NEC.
• Head coach
Rob Krimmel is 3-10 against the America East.

• D.J. Mitchell paced four Hawks in double figures with 19 points. David Shriver (18 points), Austin Williams (15 points) and Austin Flowers (14 points) also found double figures in the contest.
• Williams leads the team with 15.4 points per game and has a team-best 26 assists.
• Moses Flowers leads the squad with 10 steals and sits second with 11.6 points per game.

In that span, he has reached at least 16 points three times with a career-high 23 points against Bucknell on Dec. 1 and 19 points against American. In addition, he has registered at least three rebounds and three assists in each of his last four games, and he has tallied at least five rebounds four times and three assists in all seven games he has played this season.

Ronell Giles, Jr. has reached double figures in his last five games, and he needs one more 10+ game to match his six-straight games in double figures in the final six games of last season. Giles is averaging 14.6 points per game over his last five games. Dating back to the final six games last season, the sophomore has registered double figures in 12 of his last 14 games.

Myles Thompson has accumulated at least eight points in a game seven times this season with three games of at least 17 points. Thompson is averaging 14.3 points per game in wins this season, and moved over the 800 point threshold with eight points against American.
• Saint Francis as a team has posted 70 points in seven of the eighth games this season and 79 points four times. The squad is 3-1 when posting 79 points or more in 2021-22.
• In the second half of every game this year except for Virginia Tech, the Red Flash has shot at least 45.5 percent from the field in those contests. It is the second time in his career he has posted consecutive double-doubles.
• With his 40 points to start the year, Flagg now has 823 points for his career on his march toward 1,000 career points.
• He has notched six rejections to start the season to sit in third place in program history with 109 blocks. Flagg can move into second place with 28 rejections.
• Flagg is now one of six players with 100 blocks, and if he reaches 110 knock aways he would be only the third player in team history with 110 blocks.
• Flagg also needs four assists to reach 100 for his career.

Rob Krimmel. The squad is 91-49 overall when it posts 70 on the scoreboard, including 42-35 (70-79 points), 37-12 (80-89 points), 12-2 (90-99 points) and 10-0 (over 100 points) in a game.
• The squad is also 104-30 when leading at halftime, and 91-54 when it had more free throws than the opponent.
• Defensively, the team is 72-31 when it allows under 69 points in a game. This season, the team is 3-0 after allowing 54 points against Franciscan,68 points to Lehigh and 67 points to Bucknell.
first collegiate points... Freshman
Brendan Scanlon, the lone newcomer on the team, notched his first collegiate action against Franciscan on Nov. 15. The freshman registered a pair of rebounds and received a huge ovation when he scored off the glass with 27 seconds left for his first collegiate points.
preseason poll... Saint Francis was picked eighth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll. Wagner College received seven of the 10 first place votes to be selected as the preseason favorite. Bryant University picked up two first place nods to finish second, while Mount St. Mary's University earned the final first place selection to place fourth. Long Island University, Merrimack College, Sacred Heart University, St. Francis Brooklyn, the Red Flash, Fairleigh Dickinson University and Central Connecticut State rounded out the 10-team poll.

• Krimmel, a 2000 graduate of Saint Francis, was an Academic All-American.

Eric Taylor, a 1998 graduate, was a three-time All-NEC selection, ranks 23rd in program history in points (1,287) and fifth in rebounding (967).

Ronnie Drinnon, an All-NEC first team selection as a senior and
Jamaal King, who was named to the all-conference first team in his last two seasons, both played for Krimmel and also have etched their name into Saint Francis lore. King ranks 10th in program history in points (1,517 points) while Drinnon is 11th in rebounding (804). Drinnon graduated from Saint Francis in 2016 and King graduated in 2019.
• Assistant coach
Luke McConnell, a 2012 Saint Francis graduate, played on the Red Flash football team as a student-athlete. McConnell is the son of former Saint Francis men's basketball head coach Tom McConnell (1992-99), while his cousin T.J. McConnell is in his seventh season in the NBA.
