FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team fell to No. 13 George Mason on Saturday in three sets.
SFU held leads in sets two and three, but Mason was able to comeback in both to complete another sweep.

"We continued to play more guys to develop depth and show everyone what it feels like to play at game speed and with game stress. From top to bottom, we are competing now and I'm happy with that. We will get back into the win column soon."
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE
- With a lineup that featured three freshmen, the Red Flash held an early lead at 3-2.
- Mason answered with six of the next nine points to take a 9-5 lead.
- The Patriots continued to extend their lead, forcing an SFU timeout at 16-7.
- Out of the stoppage, the Red Flash could not get it going, and Mason pulled away for a 25-12 set one win.
SET TWO
- Two Trevor Lewis kills gave the Red Flash an early 2-1 lead, but Mason answered with six of the next seven points to take a 7-3 lead.
- The Red Flash answered with a run of its own, scoring four of five to cut the lead to one.
- With the score 8-7 Patriots, Saint Francis went on a 7-3 run to take a 14-10 lead.
- Mason followed with five straight to take a 15-14 lead.
- The teams traded points and Mason used a timeout up 21-20.
- Out of the timeout, the Patriots scored four of the final five to take the set, 25-21.
SET THREE
- Mason jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Red Flash answered and tied the set at five and took a 6-5 lead on a Joshua Blair ace.
- The teams began to trade points, staying within two until a Blake Liprando ace gave SFU a 15-12 lead.
- The Patriots followed with five straight points to take the lead before a Blair kill cut it to 17-16.
- From there, Mason finished the set on an 8-4 run to take the set, 25-20, and win the match.
STATS
- Kills were 33-30 in favor of Mason, along with aces (4-2), assists (31-27), blocks (5-4), and hitting percentage (.259-.093).
- SFU had 22 attack errors and 12 service errors compared to 12 and seven from Mason.
- Digs were 31-22 Patriots.
