ALTOONA, Pa. – The Red Flash bowling team is set for a big Saturday at Holiday Bowl, going head-to-head with No. 17 Duquesne to cap off NEC competition with a chance to make the NEC Championship.
On Saturday, Saint Francis will honor seniors Madchen Breen and Kristen Battles prior to the start of action, recognizing their contributions throughout their Red Flash careers.
The Event: Saint Francis (7-18, 7-11 NEC) vs. No. 17 Duquesne (30-13, 13-5 NEC)

SCOUTING THE DUKES
Duquesne comes into the weekend ranked No. 17 with a 30-13 record and a 13-5 mark in conference play. The Dukes are currently in third in NEC play, and have clinched a spot in the NEC Championship. Last weekend, the Dukes went 7-2 in North Brunswick, dropping their first two to Sacred Heart before finishing the weekend 7-0, including sweeps against Mount and Wagner.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Red Flash ended in seventh after the NEC event, going 2-7 on the weekend and bringing their NEC record to 7-11. Saint Francis fell, 0-3 to Long Island, 1-2 to St. Francis Brooklyn, and 1-2 to No. 21 Sacred Heart.
Individually, Marissa Metcalfe is eighth in the NEC standings, with Madalyn Harden in 21st and Kaitie Conte in 27th.
POSTSEASON HOPES
The 2021 NEC Championship will only include the top five teams of the conference. Currently, the Red Flash are in sixth with a 7-11 record, just one game behind 8-10 Long Island. A strong outing against Duquesne can help put Saint Francis in a better position to participate in the championship, which begins on March 19. Saturday will match Long Island up with St. Francis Brooklyn, who is a game behind the Red Flash at 6-12, good for seventh place. The final two spots of the tournament are still up for grabs, and will be competed for by Mount, Long Island, Saint Francis, and St. Francis Brooklyn, who are separated by just three games.

UP NEXT
If Saint Francis can get into the top five in the NEC after taking on Duquesne, they will participate in the NEC Championship from March 19-21. If the Red Flash stay out of the top five, the season will conclude after the weekend.
