Saint Francis heads down route 80 for CWPA matchups

LEWISBURG, PA. – The Red Flash gear up for another road trip of the 2021 season. This time, they take a quick trip down route 80 to Kinney Natatorium to take on CWPA competitors for two conference matchups on Sunday April 11th at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm.

The Red Flash are coming off a two wins last Saturday and are on a three game win streak heading into Sunday. This is the longest win streak of the season for SFU thus far.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
The Red Flash take on the number 7th ranked Michigan Wolverines for the third time this season. Michigan has been able to hold off SFU twice in 2021, taking a 13-2 win back at the end of February and a 13-5 win the end of March when SFU hosted.

Since then, U of M has posted five straight wins to go 17-4 on the season. Their only four losses come from three straight, two against the #1 ranked University of Southern California and #4 ranked Arizona State. These will be the last set of matchups for Michigan before they head out to compete in the CWPA Championship.

Maddie O'Reilly leads the Wolverines in goals this season so far with 40 on 78 attempts. She is as well the leading assister with 27.

Libby Alsemgeest comes in at number two on the season in goals with 26 on 53 attempts. She as also drawn the most exclusions on the team so far.

Kata Utassy rounds up the top-three leading scorers for the Wolverines with 24 on the season out of 44 attempts. She has the best shooting percentage on the team with .545% alongside Ava Morrant.

SCOUTING THE BISON
This is the first matchup of the season for the Red Flash and Bison. They will meet one other time this season for conference play. Bucknell is most recently ranked, tied for the 21st spot in the CWPA national rankings. This will be the 9th matchup between these two teams where the Bison's have a commanding lead of 9 wins to no losses against the Red Flash.

Bucknell has only competed in six games this semester, winning four and losing two. They are currently on a three-game winning streak, and their only two losses come from Michigan and La Salle University. Last weekend, they competed against Gannon and Mercyhurst where they outscored their competitors 33-16.

Ally Furano leads the Bison in goals this season so far with 77 total and a career total of 247. She has accumulated 12 assists this season thus far to put her at a career total of 80.

Kali Hyham is the second leading scorer for Bucknell with 57 on the season and a total of 155 on her career. She also has tallied 53 drawn exclusions. She is second on the team in ejections with 15.

Nina Benson and Paige Furano round out the top three scorers for the Bison, each recording 29 on the season.

THE SCHEDULE
Saint Francis is back in action on Sunday April 11th with the first of the matchup of the day beginning at 11:30 am against Michigan and the second starting at 2:00 pm vs. Bucknell.
