Scott scores four, Baker passes 100 points in season finale

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Senior Emileigh Scott scored four goals in her senior year finale as the Saint Francis women's lacrosse team closed out the 2021 season with a contest at first-place Mount St. Mary's, falling 18-7.
 
Redshirt senior Livia Baker reached 100 points for her collegiate career with a goal and an assist in the game in Emmitsburg, while senior Amanda Heidt and junior Autumn McHenry each added a tally.

COACH COYNE'S COMMENTS
"The team played tough today. I was proud of the effort considering some of the players took final exams this morning before we left.
 
"It's always a sad day when the season comes to an end. This group has been amazing to work with in all the ways that are important. The 2021 team has moved the program forward; that's an awesome legacy."
 
KEY MOMENT
  • Heidt's goal put the Red Flash in front 2-1 with 23:38 to play in the opening half before Mount outscored SFU 9-1 over the remainder of the first half.
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Mountaineers scored 35 seconds into the game before goals from Scott and Heidt gave the Red Flash a 2-1 advantage with 23:38 to go in the first half.
  • Mount scored the next four to go ahead 5-2 with 16:49 remaining in the half.
  • Scott scored midway through the half but the Red Flash was held off the board the rest of the half, as a Mountaineer goal in the final second before the break capped off a five-goal run to give the hosts a 10-3 halftime advantage.
  • McHenry and Baker scored the first two goals out of the intermission to get the Red Flash back within 10-5 with 27:24 to play.
  • Mount St. Mary's scored the next seven to build a 17-5 advantage with eight minutes to play.
  • Scott scored twice in a span of 2:20 to cut the deficit to 17-7 with 3:40 remaining. The Mountaineers tallied the game's final score with 80 seconds remaining.

  • Scott recorded four goals on six shots and added six draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover.
  • Baker collected an assist, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
  • McHenry added an assist and four draw controls along with her goal.

  • Saint Francis' four conference victories in 2021 - achieved within the window of the traditional conference schedule - are the most in SFU's 20 seasons.
  • The Mountaineers finished their conference schedule at 11-0, making Mount St. Mary's the first team to go undefeated in consecutive NEC regular seasons since UMBC in 1999 and 2000.
