NEWARK, Del. – Saint Francis University football falls in its first-ever meeting against No. 6 Delaware, 27-10. Quarterback
Jyron Russell (Grand Prairie, Tx. / Timberview) produced the only Red Flash touchdown with a 66-yard run in the third quarter.

The Red Flash led the game in rushing yards 135-101 but lost the total yardage battle 360-300.
Kahtero Summers (Coatesville, Pa. / Coatesville) led the Red Flash receivers with 88 yards on six catches. Russell went 14-for-25 with 165 yards passing and added 76 yards rushing. Defensively,
Gio Vonne Sanders (Jaennette, Pa. / Jaenette) led the way with nine total tackles (three solo) and
Donnell Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Westlake)Â and
Jake Heiple (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset) each added one sack.

Delaware produced the game's first and only points in the first quarter when kicker Ryan Coe converted a field goal. With a 3-0 lead after the first, the Blue Hens led the Red Flash 88-72 in total yards, while each team produced four first downs.

In the second quarter, Saint Francis converted a field goal on the first play and tied the game 3-3. The 42-yard field goal from kicker
Alex Schmoke (Bellwood, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis) was his first of the season. The Blue Hens responded with an 11-play, 73-yard drive, but Saint Francis held them to just a field goal, despite Delaware possessing the ball inside the 10-yard line.

Prior to halftime, the Blue Hens scored the game's first touchdown with 15 seconds remaining. A Dejoun Lee one-yard run capped off a 14-play, 58-yard drive that featured a fourth-down conversion. Saint Francis trailed 13-3 at halftime and Summers led the team with four catches for 51 yards in the half.

Back from the half, Delaware extended the lead on an Anthony Paoletti one-yard touchdown run as the Blue Hens took a 20-3 lead. On the ensuing drive, Russell produced the only Red Flash touchdown of the game on a 66-yard run and cut the deficit to 20-10.

Delaware scored the game's final points when wide receiver Thyrick Pitts scored on a 30-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone. With the Red Flash unable to respond, Delaware took a 27-10 victory over Saint Francis.

The Red Flash will return home for the first time since Nov. 16, 2019 next Saturday Sept. 18 in a matchup against Wagner at 12:00 p.m.
