Women's Soccer Suffers Close Loss To Merrimack

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis scored a season-high three goals but were unable to stop Merrimack in the second half and fall, 4-3.
>> Tomke Dziesiaty, Paige Theobald, and Colletta Ozbey scored the goals for the Red Flash with two of them coming in the first half.
>> Sarah McConnon notched three saves on 22 shots faced during the 90 minute contest.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
In the 72nd minute the Warriors scored a goal to make the game a 3-2 score but just two minutes later they ended up tying the match at three all. Additionally, in the 84th minute Merrimack scored their fourth and final goal to put the match away. It was after the Warriors made the score 3-2 they didn't let their foot off the gas and continued to applied pressure to the Saint Francis defense. 

FLASH NUGGETS
Saint Francis had their best offensive output of the season starting with a Dziesiaty goal just seven minutes into the match. Soon after, Theobald notched her first goal of the season to put the Red Flash up 2-1 going into the first half. Ozbey then followed suit in the second half with her second goal of the year to put the Red Flash up 3-1 at the time. 

Lauren Pyle and Dziesiaty collected an assist for each of them as they both lead the team in points, goals, and assists.


UP NEXT
The Red Flash will return home when they host Stonehill for the first time as a new member of the NEC this Sunday. The match is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will also be Senior Day as Saint Francis will celebrate the careers of Corinne Renninger, Ellie Aston, and Jaela House prior to the match.
