OPENING TIP
• Saturday's game between Saint Francis and Miami marks the third meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1986-87 season.
•  The Hurricanes have won the previous two meetings, including a 71-48 decision in 2001-02.
• It will be the first meeting between the two teams since Miami joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. The first meeting the Hurricanes were not in a conference and the second meeting they were a member of the Big East.

LAST TIME WE MET
• Miami defeated Saint Francis 71-48 on December 71-48 on December 30, 2001.
• Reiner Mougnol paced the Red Flash with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Steveroy Daley added 12 points and nine rebounds.
• John Salmons led the Hurricanes with 21 points. Marcus Barnes (12 points), James Jones (11 points) and Elton Tyler (10 points) also found double figures.

THE WORD ON MIAMI
•  The Hurricanes come into the contest 10-1 after defeating N.C. State 80-73 on December 10.
•  Jordan Miller led the way against the Wolfpack with 25 points, while Isaiah Wong (22 points) and Norchad Omier (11 points, 11 rebounds). The Hurricanes rallied in the second half for win.
• Wong was named the ACC and the USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week after averaging 29.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.

LAST TIME OUT
• Despite redshirt junior Josh Cohen's second 40-point performance this season Hawai'i defeated Saint Francis 90-66 on Sunday.
• Cohen tied his career high after he also posted that total against Lehigh on November 21, six games ago.
• The redshirt junior tied the SimpliFi Arena field goal record with his career-best 16-made free throws, and missed the arena record for points by one point. When he posted 40 points against Lehigh, Cohen missed the DeGol Arena mark by two points.
• It was the 13th time in program history a player has reached 40 points in a game in program history, but he now joins Naismith Hall of Famer Maurice Stokes as the only player to have more than one 40-point performance.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the second win against the ACC since defeating Pittsburgh 80-70 to start the 2020-21 season
•  Be the third win against a Power 6 Conference team under head coach Rob Krimmel
• Be the squad's first win on the road this season
• Be the second win in the state of Florida under Krimmel
• Be the team's second win in the month of December

TRENDING UP
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen posted 19 points, five rebounds and five assists against Franciscan, which was the next game after his last 40-point game.
• Cohen is averaging 31.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in four games on Sunday and Monday this season with all of his 20-point games or more coming on the first two days of the week. He is averaging 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in the seven games during the other five days of the week. In the 18 remaining games on the schedule, the Loretto program only has one more game scheduled on Sunday or Monday (January 16 vs. Sacred Heart).
• Cohen is averaging 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game against Power 6 Conference teams this season (at Butler and No. 25 Ohio State).  Junior Maxwell Land (15.5 points), freshman Cam Gregory (10.5 points per game) and freshman Landon Moore (10.0 points per game) are also avearging double figures in points against the Power 6 Conference opponents this season. Moore had a career-high 16 points at Butler on November 17.
• Gregory is averaging 9.8 points and 4.0 assists per game in his last three games.
• Gregory, who has a team-best 27 assists in his last eight games, is averaging 8.0 points and 3.3 assists per game on the road as a starter.
•  The Red Flash has lost its first five road games in a season for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign.  That season, the squad lost at Buffalo, No. 20 UCLA, No. 7 North Carolina, No. 13 Virginia Tech and American. The Loretto program lost all seven games on the road in non-conference play and went 4-0 at home, but went on to win the NEC regular season with a 12-6 record in league play and went 18-15 overall in 2018-19.

FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen joined some elite company after his second 40-point performance of the season against Hawai'i on Sunday.
• Cohen is the second player in program history to register 40-point games in a single-season and/or career. Naismith Hall of Famer Maurice Stokes registered four 40-point performances in the 1954-55 season, including three in a five-game span. Stokes had three games of exactly 40 points and a then program-record 43 points against Dayton in the NIT.
• Saint Francis is looking for its second win against the Atlantic Coast Conference after defeating Pittsburgh 80-70 in the 2020-21 season opener.
• The Loretto program is 1-18 all-time against the ACC and 1-16 on the road
• In head coach Rob Krimmel's tenure as head coach, Saint Francis also has a 73-68 victory against Rutgers from the Big 10 in 2014-15 along with the win against Pittsburgh.
• The Red Flash is 3-80 overall against teams from a Power 6 Conference and 3-72 on the road.
• The squad lost at Butler 95-67 on November 17, and 96-59 at No. 25 Ohio State on December 3 for the squad's other contests against Power 6 Conference teams this season.
• It will be the 23rd time Krimmel has faced a Power 6 opponent with two wins to his credit.
• Krimmel is 1-7 against the ACC. Along with the win against Pittsburgh, his team played Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
• The Hokies were the last ACC opponent the Red Flash faced on November 18, 2021.
• The Red Flash is 2-60 against a Top-25 team all-time. The squad is looking for its first win against a Top-25 opponent since the Red Flash downed No. 13 St. Bonaventure 92-81 on January 25, 1959. An 82-72 victory against Duquesne, the second ranked team in the country at the time, on January 8, 1955 is also on the squad's resume. • It will be the 13th time Krimmel and his team will face a ranked opponent and the second time this season. The Red Flash lost at No. 25 Ohio State on Dec. 3.
• It is the first time Saint Francis has played multiple ranked opponents in the same season since 2018-19 when the squad faced No. 20 UCLA (L, 95-98), No. 7 North Carolina (L, 76-101) and No. 13 Virginia Tech (L, 37-75).
• Saint Francis will have two games in between its matchups against ranked opponents in 2022-23, but played UCLA, North Carolina and Virginia Tech consecutively in a nine-day span in 2018-19.
• It will be the fourth time the Red Flash will play multiple ranked opponents under Krimmel and the 17th time in program history.
• Saint Francis is 2-10 against the state of Florida, including 1-6 on the road.
• Krimmel has taken the team to the Sunshine State twice and is 1-1 in those contests.
• St. Francis defeated Jacksonville 78-76 in the first round of the CollegeInsiders.com Tournament on March 17, 2017. It was the first Red Flash postseason win since defeating Fordham in the NCAA Play-in Game in 1990-91.
• The only other game since Krimmel took over as head coach was against Florida State in 2019-20.
• Miami head coach Jim Larranaga is 0-1 against Saint Francis as a head coach after the Red Flash defeated George Mason 69-57 in Loretto on December 2, 1997 in his first season with the Patriots.
• Krimmel and assistant coach Eric Taylor both were in the starting lineup for that game. Taylor fueled the Red Flash with 24 points and 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. He did most of his damage at the free throw line, going 14-for-16. Krimmel registered 12 points in the winning effort.
• There was one other person at the George Mason game 23 years ago. Saint Francis Associate Head Coach Andrew Helton was an assistant coach on the Red Flash staff.
• Helton also has a tie to Miami. After he left his first stint at Saint Francis, Helton was an administrative assistant for Miami for 1999-01. He was a member of the 1999-00 Hurricane team that was Co-Regular Season Big East Champions and advanced to its first Sweet 16 appearance in Leonard Hamilton's final year in Coral Gables. Helton stayed on staff for Perry Clark's first year with Miami advancing to the NIT in 2000-01.
• Helton holds a master's degree from Miami.
• Saint Francis wraps up its non-conference action against Robert Morris on December 21.
• It will be the first matchup in Moon Township since the 2019-20 NEC Championship Game.
