PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Saint Francis University water polo team takes it second trip of the spring 2022 season Saturday and Sunday when it heads to Brown University with four games at the Brown Invite. SFU will take on schools such as Marist, Siena, La Salle, and LIU.

SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
The Red Flash play the No. 23 Red Foxes for the first and last time this season Saturday morning in Providence. Marist has scored a combined 14 goals in their three games this season as they have face ranked teams such as Stanford, Hawaii, and Michigan. Freshman Madeline Schultz leads the way on offense for the Red Foxes with six goals on 16 shots. In net, Marist is guided by reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Marina Hyham who has 16 saves so far and 64 minutes in goal this season.
This will be the first matchup for Marist and Saint Francis since the 2017 season, and the 16
th meeting all-time between the two schools.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Siena and SFU have met a total of five times in their history with the Red Flash last defeating the Saints 17-15 in 2020. This will be Siena's first matchup of the 2022 season as they look to improve upon their 1-8 overall record in 2021. The Saints are led on offense by returning senior Georgia Vargas who led the squad with 21 goals at the center position. Also, on offense Siena has Bianca Prinsloo who was second-team all MAAC selection with 21 goals and leading the team with 25 points in 2021.
The Red Flash will look to improve to 6-0 against the Saints as each contest has been decided by three points or less.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
The Red Flash go up againt La Salle University who is 2-2 on the young season with wins against Mercyhurst and St. Francis Brooklyn but losses against Bucknell and Princeton. La Salle is guided on offense by Kalista Hyham as she has scored 16 times on 30 shots with 21 points to lead the Explorers by a wide margin. In goal, La Salle has a savvy player with Emma Gurasich compiling 39 saves but also adding four steals and six assists which makes her a serious threat in the water. Â
Saint Francis is 4-1 lifetime against the Explorers with the Red Flash winning 10-9 in their last contest in 2020. Current Red Flash players

Addison Williams scored two goals each in that winning effort two years ago. Â
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU comes into the Brown Invite with an impressive first four games as they have wins against #10 Indiana and Salem University. Their only losses come against #2 Stanford and #3 UCLA. The Sharks are led on offense by Paola Dominguez who has 11 goals on 38 shots to pace LIU. Goalie Julie Zebak has 32 saves so far in 2022 but 49 goals allowed during their tough four-game stretch to begin the season.
The Red Flash have only faced off against the Sharks once in 2020 with Saint Francis winning 9-7.
Taylor Halbauer had three goals for SFU and
Carissa Semple added a goal but also had three steals in the contest.
THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis gears up for this weekend after a very successful 4-0 opening weekend in the 2022 season. Junior
Taylor Halbauer leads the Red Flash early on in the season with 14 goals on 20 shots and 13 exclusions drawn. Sophomore
Emese Szucs isn't far behind with 11 goals on the opening weekend. Junior
Abbie Carter leads the team with four assists to begin the season for the Red Flash. Freshman goalie
Isabel Lumley compiled 24 saves and only seven goals allowed as she split games with freshman
Grace Raquel who had 10 total saves but also added three steals for the Red Flash.
THE SCHEDULE
The Red Flash will travel to Princeton, New Jersey next weekend to face Bucknell, Iona, Princeton, and Villanova on Saturday and Sunday.
