PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Saint Francis Women's Water Polo team were not able to find the same success in their opening weekend as the team finished with a 1-3 record at the Bruno Classic in Providence.
The Saint Francis Red Flash actually scored more goals this weekend compared to last with the team putting up 36 goals in the two-day stretch. The leading goal-scorer for the Red Flash over the weekend was
Emese Szucs with 10, followed by
Addison Williams who finished the weekend with seven goals.Â
MARIST 13, SAINT FRANCIS 7
STATS/NOTES
- Taylor Halbauer started off the weekend on a high note with four goals to lead the Red Flash in the contest.
- Freshman Kimberly Frostad made her presence known with two goals while Addison Williams also chipped in with one score.
- The Red Flash were able to draw 11 exclusions from Marist.
- Saint Francis remains winless against the Red Foxes in their history.

- Emese Szucs led the way with five goals on six shots, while freshman Kayla Rhoads, Frostad, and Halbauer added two a piece. Carissa Semple and Maysen Seile pitched in with a goal each to round out the scoring for the Red Flash.
- The Red Flash matched a season-high 11 steals with Williams leading the way with three.Â
- Both Red Flash goalies split time with Grace Raquel making seven saves and Isabel Lumley stopping six for Saint Francis.
- Addison Williams led the team with three assists and three exclusions drawn as she filled the stat sheet.
- The Red Flash improve to 6-0 against Siena all-time.Â

- Szucs and Williams paved the way for the Red Flash offense with two goals each. Frostad and Semple both notched a goal to round out the scoring for Saint Francis.Â
- The Red Flash were able to snag seven steals with Szucs leading the squad with two of her own.Â
- Lumley and Raquel split time once again with Lumley making six saves on two goals allowed, while Raquel notched one save.Â
- Saint Francis had it's scoring chances with 28 total shots but only being able to convert on six of them.Â
- This was the first loss against La Salle since the beginning of the 2019 season.Â

- Williams paced the Red Flash with four goals to lead the team. Szucs pitched in with three goals and Frostad with two as well. Semple, Rhoads, and Seile also contributed to the offense with one goal a piece.
- Saint Francis was able to get eight steals with Williams leading the team with four and Halbauer behind her with two.Â
- Lumley was the lone goaltender for Saint Francis notching seven saves and didn't allow a goal in the 4th quarter.
- As a team the Red Flash had eight exclusions drawn with Halbauer leading all players with two.Â
- The Red Flash almost were able to stage a full comeback down 14-7 heading into the 4th quarter but ran out of time in the end.Â
UP NEXT
The Red Flash will travel back up north to Princeton, New Jersey to face Bucknell, Iona, Villanova, and the hosting school Princeton next Saturday and Sunday.Â
