Softball Completes Series Sweep of LIU Behind Six Home Runs

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball completed a series sweep of LIU with a 13-4 win on Sunday. The Red Flash hit six home runs that drove in 10 of their runs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Madeline Barnes went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs. She hit the walk-off home run in the sixth inning.
» Rachel Marsden pitched four innings and allowed no earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts. She also hit two solo home runs in the game.
» Jordan Pietrzykoski went 2-for-4 with three RBIs on her bases-loaded double.
»  Jordan Frank went 1-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs.
» LIU's Ryleigh Bermea hit a solo home run in the third inning.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME

» LIU took a 3-0 lead through two and a half innings behind two unearned runs in the second and a Bermea home run in the third.
» In the bottom of the third, Saban hit a solo home run before LIU got the run back in the fourth and extended its lead to 4-1.
» Barnes ignited the Saint Francis offense with a game-tying three-run home run in the fourth inning. Frank and Marsden hit back-to-back home runs, followed by a bases-loaded double by Pietrzykoski, in the fifth inning to give Saint Francis a commanding 10-4 lead.
» Marsden led off the sixth inning with her second home run of the game and Barnes hit a walk-off two-run home run to clinch Saint Francis' 13-4 victory.

» Saban finished the weekend 7-for-9 with seven runs scored, three doubles and one home run. She raised her team-leading batting average to .464.
» Coming into Sunday's game, Barnes had just two hits in her first 21 at-bats and produced three hits, two home runs, in four at-bats.
» With her two home runs, Marsden raised her team-high to seven this season and leads the team with 17 RBIs.
