After the Hornets scored the first goal of the game, it became the Fisher show for about the next 15 minutes. The junior tied the game at 1 with un assisted tally at 10:06 and then she gave the squad the lead for good on a pass from Heidt at 7:50. She then twinkled the twine off a McHenry assist at 5:25 in the first quarter to complete the hat trick and then notched her career-best fourth tally off a feed from Hernandez at 10:18 in the second quarter to give the Red Flash a 6-1 lead.
Catherine Russo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Hernandez also had goals sprinkled in the Fisher run. Russo scored off McHenry's first helper of her record-tying afternoon at the seven-minute mark in the first quarter while Hernandez found the twine unassisted at 11:44 in the second quarter.
FLASH MOMENTS
Hernandez's tally started a run of five unanswered goals for the Loretto program. After Fisher's fourth score, the co-captains connected with each other with McHenry notching a hat trick of assists on a feed to Heidt at 9:32. Jamison then scored consecutive goals unassisted at 7:02 and again off a feed from Fisher at 5:26. Roncarati capped the 5-0 spurt unassisted at 3:51. The freshman added her second tally of the day off McHenry's fourth helper with 33 seconds left in the first half for an 11-2 lead at the break.
After four assists in the first half, McHenry took a turn at twinkling the twine with Fisher returning the favor at 11:39 in the third quarter. McHenry then connected with her co-captain again at 66 seconds later for her fifth helper of the day.
Heidt then had a hand in the next two scores for the Red Flash. The senior completed her hat trick unassisted at 14:11 in the fourth quarter and then set up Alden's first marker of the day at 5:36. McHenry then connected with Alden at 4:11 in the fourth quarter to tie the program's nine-year old single-game program record.
Hernandez capped the scoring unassisted with 99 seconds left to seal the 17-7 victory.
FLASH NUGGETS
It was the sixth time in program history a player has dished out at least five assists in a game, but just the second time in the team's 20-year history a player had six helpers in a contest.
McHenry finished the game with a goal and six assists for seven points along with five draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover. With her seven points, McHenry is one point away from becoming the 11th player in team history with 100 career points. The senior has scored a goal in all eight games this season and in her last 10 matches dating back to last year.
Coming into the year, Fisher had one career multi-goal performance and she has registered five in her first eight games this season including a pair of games with at least three markers. In addition, she recorded her second-straight two-assist match after tallying a career-high two assists against Kent State on Mar. 19 and also re-established her career high in points after having two four-point games this season.
Heidt has notched at least three goals in each of her last three games and has posted 12 points and four assists for 16 points in that stretch. The graduate student now has 73 career goals and can move into the Top-10 with six markers, while she also now has 84 points in her career.
Alden registered a career-high two goals and now has three tallies this season. After registering her first collegiate goal and two assists against Kent State, Jamison notched her first career multi-goal performance. Roncarati registered her fifth multi-goal game this season and now has 13 goals in her freshman campaign.
Kelly Dickson (Blue Bell, Pa.) registered a career-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while
Chyler Espino (San Francisco, Calif.) added a career-best three caused turnovers along with two ground balls and a draw control.
Elyssa Enrique (North Canton, Ohio) turned away seven shots In the winning effort.
