Saint Francis University men's volleyball defeated the Golden Eagles of The University of Charleston over four sets on Saturday to remain undefeated at home and go 6-2 in the EIVA.

Blake Liprando (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the day overall with 20 kills and nine digs. While also recording a new career single game high of five service aces.

Nathan Zini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle Catholic) followed closely in behind with ten kills on the day and two serving aces.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
With the Red Flash up in the game 2-1, the squad just needed one more set for victory. The fourth set went back-and-forth at the start, but a 8-1 run for Saint Francis was the deciding factor for the Red Flash. It was a kill from Zini followed by a service ace from
Joshua Blair (Matterson, Ill./ Marian Catholic) that secured the fourth set for the Red Flash to claim the 3-1 victory

FLASH MOMENTS 

The first set went back and forth between both teams. However, with the Red Flash down 11-8 the squad went on a 3-0 run to tie the set at 11-11, but the Eagles responded with a 3-0 run themselves to hold the advantage over Saint Francis. The Red Flash came back to tie the set on a few occasions. With the score 20-19, the Red Flash took its first lead since early in the set after a kill from
Thomas Leahey (State College, Pa./State College Area) and service ace from
Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park), but the Eagles came back with another 3-0 run to take the lead and make the score 24-22 for the Golden Eagle squad to be able to claim the first set, 25-23.

The Red Flash found its stride in the second set to start it off with a 5-1 run. Saint Francis men's volleyball was able to maintain control throughout the beginning of the second set until the Golden Eagles went on a 4-1 run to take the lead and make the score 10-9. The Red Flash were finally able to take the lead again thanks to a kill from Liprando to make the score 18-17. Although Charleston was able to come back and tie the set 22-22, the Red Flash bounced back with a 3-1 run to claim the second set, 25-23.

The third set was more of the same with both teams battling it out. With the set tied at 14-14, the Golden Eagles were able to come up with a 3-0 run to make the score 17- 14. With the Red Flash down at 19-17, the squad was able to go on a 3-0 run that was started by a kill from Liprando for Saint Francis to take the lead and make the score 20-19. The Golden Eagles tied it up a couple times after this, but the Red Flash never allowed the opponent take the lead again in this set for the Loretto, Pa., squad to claim the third set, 25-22.

FLASH NUGGETS
The Red Flash continue to control the overall record against the Golden Eagles at 12-4. After Saturday's win, the last two victories for Saint Francis over Charleston have both came in four sets.

After Saturday's victory, the Red Flash remain undefeated at home at 5-0.
Lirpando was one kill away from his single game career high of 20 kills that he has achieved twice, both coming against Harvard University.Â

The Red Flash will continue at home next weekend to take on Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Ohio State University on Saturday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m.
