LORETTO, Pa. – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced the 2022 Preseason Poll with the Red Flash men and women cross country teams coming in third.
 
The men follow CCSU and Wagner who tied for first in the poll. The women come behind the favorite CCSU and second place LIU.
 
The men finished fifth at the NEC Championships last fall. Zachary Kohler (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) led the way for the men with a ninth-place finish.
 
The women came in third at the Championships with Mackenzie Walker (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) coming in seventh.
 
The women also captured back-to-back outdoor track and field championships titles this past spring. Distance runners Emma Fleck (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette), Mariclare Anderson (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and Monica Gregg (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) all had podium finishes.
 
Douglas Hoover will enter his 11th season at the helm of the Red Flash cross country teams.
 
The cross country teams will open their seasons at home with the Father Bede Invitational on September 2.
