OPENING TIP
• Saturday's game between Saint Francis and LIU marks the 85th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1963-64 season.
• The Sharks have won five of the last six meetings to take a 44-40 edge in the all-time matchup.
• Saint Francis' last win in the series was a 74-71 decision in Loretto in 2019-20.

THE WORD ON LIU
•  The Sharks come into the contest 2-14 overall and 0-4 in NEC play after falling 101-89 at FDU on January 7.
• Marko Maletic led the team with 29 points against the Knights, while Jacob Johnson (16 points) and Andre Washington (14 points) also reached double figures.
• Maletic leads the team with 17.8 points per game. Washington is second with 13.0 points per game and Johnson fuels the team with 5.5 rebounds per game and is averaging 12.3 points per game.

LAST TIME WE MET
• LIU defeated Saint Francis 81-63 on February 17, 2022 in Loretto.
Josh Cohen paced the Red Flash with 15 points while Maxwell Land added 11 points and Mark Flagg tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
• Tre Wood powered the Sharks with 18 points, while Eral Penn (17 points), Isaac Kante (14 points), Kyndall Davis (13 points) and Ty Flowers (11 points, 15 rebounds) also found double figures.

LAST TIME OUT
• Freshman Landon Moore gave Saint Francis the lead for good midway through the second half and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 31 seconds to propel Saint Francis past Wagner 68-63 on January 7.
• For the second-straight game Moore was clutch in the second half posting 12 of his 15 points while adding six rebounds, and five assists.
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen led the Red Flash with a NEC career-high 27 points along with seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
• Junior Maxwell Land had 17 points and five rebounds.
•  Saint Francis begins the NEC slate for the third time in program history and the first time since the 2002-03 season.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Give the Red Flash its second 4-0 start in program history in NEC play and first since 1990-91
• Continue team's best winning streak since 2019-20 with its fourth-straight win. The 2019-20 team won eight straight games
• Be the squad's fourth-straight win at DeGol Arena
• End a four-game losing streak to LIU

TRENDING UP
• Saint Francis is shooting 48.5 percent from 3-point land in Red Flash victories and 50.8 percent in the four wins at home.  The Red Flash is also shooting 56.4 percent from behind the arc in the last two home games (22-for-39).
• Saint Francis is 5-1 this season when it makes at least eight baskets from behind the arc, which is also the total needed to give away free a free Big Mac at home games.
• Redshirt junior Luke Ruggery loves some home cookin'. He has posted 56 of his 62 points in DeGol Arena. He is shooting 60 percent from the floor (18-for-30) and 68.2 percent from 3-point land (15-for-22) from behind the arc while just averaging 12.7 minutes per game in those eight games. He notched a career-high 18 points against Saint Vincent on December 8 and then had an NEC career-best 15 points against CCSU on December 29.
• While the Petula Clark will tell you that you can forget all your troubles and forget all of your cares and go downtown, there is another area that has been key to the Red Flash success this season. The team is 5-2 when it has more points or even number of points inside the paint.
• In his last five games, freshman Landon Moore has scored at least 15 points in all five games and notched a pair of 20-point performances. He is averaging 18.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in this latest stretch. During this span, he has dished out at least four assists four times and matched his career high with six rebounds twice.
• Junior Ronell Giles, Jr. was injuried in the game in Brooklyn on January 8, 2022. He attempted to comeback from the injury against the Sharks in Loretto on February 17, 2022 before deciding to end his sophomore campaign. After missing seven of the first nine games this season, the junior has played at least 13 minutes in the last seven tilts including registering a pair of double-figure point performances.

FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saint Francis is 3-0 in NEC play for the third time and looking to win four-straight league games for just second time in program history.
• In 1990-91, the Red Flash reeled off six-straight wins. The squad won its first four games at home and its first two on the road before its first NEC loss.
• The 2002-03 team went 3-0 to start the circuit, but those first three games were at home and then suffered its first loss on the road in the fourth game of the NEC season.
• The Loretto program currently has a pair of three-game winning streaks. The team has won its last three overall games against CCSU (December 29), Stonehill (December 31) and at Wagner (January 7).
• In addition, the home games against CCSU and Stonehill were preceded by an 88-58 victory against Saint Vincent on December 8 to give the Red Flash a three-game winning streak at home.
• Both streaks go back to the 2019-20 season when the team won three-straight games and three-consecutive contests at home.• The Frankies are looking for its first four or more game winning streak since winning eight straight from January 30-February 27, 2020. The team played seven of its eight games at home during that winning streak in that stretch.
• Saint Francis maybe mirroring the 2018-19 season after earning its first road win of the season in conference play. For the first time since that campaign, the Red Flash did not win a game on the road during the non-conference slate. In that season, the squad earned its first road win with a 74-67 win at LIU on January 10, 2019, in the team's first NEC road test of the season. The team would go 6-3 on the road that season in NEC play and 6-3 at home to finish with a 12-6 league record and the No. 1 seed in the NEC Tournament.
• Wins are important on the road, but protecting DeGol Arena is the key to success under head coach Rob Krimmel. In the six seasons the Red Flash has finished .500 or better in league play under the coach, the team has posted a winning mark and at least eight wins at home.
• The Red Flash is 5-3 at home in 2022-23 after posting just four wins in each of the last two seasons in Loretto.
• Junior Maxwell Land needs one basket from 3-point land to reach 100 treys in his career. He would become the 26th different player to reach 100 from downtown in program history since the 3-point line was implemented in 1986-87. He would become the ninth player to reach the feat under Krimmel and the first since Keith Braxton.
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen reached two marks in the win against Wagner on January 7. Cohen surpassed both the 800-point mark and the 400-rebound territory and now stands at 807 points and 406 rebounds in his career.
• The redshirt junior is the 33rd player to score 800 points since the team was a charter member of the NEC in 1981-82 and the 14th under Krimmel, while he is the 22nd player since 1981-82 with 400 rebounds and eighth under Krimmel.
• Redshirt senior Marlon Hargis needs three points for 400 points in a Red Flash uniform, and junior Ronell Giles, Jr. needs 10 points for 400 points.
• Saint Francis played one game from January 1 to January 12. It is the longest stretch playing one game in NEC play in program history. Over the next 15 days (January 14-28), the team will have five tilts.
• Saint Francis will play five of its next six games on the road, starting at Sacred Heart on Monday.
• The Red Flash return home to face St. Francis Brooklyn on January 20 before hitting the road for back-to-back weeks for a four-game road trip.
