Women’s Basketball Hosts Central Connecticut on Saturday Night

LORETTO, Pa. –
 Saint Francis University women's basketball continues its home stand with a 7 p.m. tip-off against Central Connecticut on Saturday, Jan. 28.
 
Saint Francis Quick Hits
Aaliyah Moore recorded double-digit points for the third game in a row with 16 against Fairleigh Dickinson. She raised her conference points per game to a team-high 10.1 and leads Saint Francis with 9.1 per game this season. Moore still leads the Northeast Conference with 9.2 rebounds per game overall, but is fourth during conference play with 7.9 per game. Sam Miller led Saint Francis in rebounds during three of the past four games and ranks 11th in the NEC during conference play with 5.6 per game. Semaya Turner has two steals in each of the past three games and is tied for the team-high with 1.1 per game during conference play despite playing the sixth-most minutes per game (20.3). The Red Flash remain only one of three teams in the NEC with a positive rebounding margin at 0.1.
 
Last Time Out
Saint Francis dropped the first of its four-game home stand 71-45 against Fairleigh Dickinson. The teams were tied at nine points with under four minutes remaining in the first quarter before the Knights ended on a 13-6 run and took a 22-15 lead. In the second quarter, Fairleigh Dickinson led by as many as nine points and as few as four points before they took a 35-27 lead into halftime. The Knights went on a 17-4 run across the first seven and a half minutes of the third quarter before they took a 15-point, 52-37, lead after three quarters. Maria McConnell began the fourth quarter with a three and cut the lead to 52-40 before a 12-0 run for Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights led by at least 21 points for the final seven minutes of the game before they clinched their victory. 
 
Scouting Central Connecticut
The Blue Devils enter Saturday night's game with a 2-5 conference and 5-13 overall record. Central Connecticut has dropped three of its past four games since a Jan. 8 victory over Saint Francis. Deja Jenkins leads the team with 10.6 points per game, followed closely by Belle Lanpher's 10.3 per game, which both rank top 15 in the NEC. Lara Rohkohl has a second-ranked 7.2 rebounds per game, while Meghan Kenefick is fourth with 6.8 per game. Rohkohl is third in the NEC with 1.1 blocks per game and Forever Toppin is third with 2.1 steals per game.
 
All-Time vs. Central Connecticut
Saint Francis holds a 36-15 all-time record over Central Connecticut. The Blue Devils won the first matchup this season 64-60 behind 19 points from Jenkins. Turner scored her current career-high 12 points during the game and Moore added 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Blue Devils are on a current two-game winning streak after a six-game streak by the Red Flash. Saint Francis holds a 20-6 record at home over Central Connecticut and has won five of the past six meetings at home.  
 
Around the NEC
St. Francis Brooklyn handed Wagner its first conference loss of the season with a 61-59 victory. The outcome moved the Terriers to 5-2 and Wagner to 6-1. Fairleigh Dickinson moved into a first-place after a 71-45 win over Saint Francis, while Sacred Heart defeated LIU 70-58 to also move into the tie. Merrimack improved to 3-4 in conference play with a 69-67 win over Central Connecticut. The weekend of NEC action concludes with Fairleigh Dickinson hosting Merrimack, LIU hosting St. Francis Brooklyn, Sacred Heart hosting Stonehill and Saint Francis hosting Central Connecticut.
