LAST TIME WE MET
• Wagner defeated Saint Francis 82-53 in the NEC Quarterfinals on March 3, 2022 in Staten Island.
• Mark Flagg paced the Red Flash with 11 points and 11 rebounds in his final collegiate game, while Zahree Harrison also scored 11 points in the game.
• DeLonnie Hunt fueled the Seahawks with 24 points, while Raekwon Rogers (17 points) and Zaire Williams (15 points) also found double figures in points. Alex Morales tallied a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
LAST TIME OUT
• Freshman Landon Moore scored 15 of the final 21 points to Saint Francis to help the Red Flash rally past Stonehill 73-72 on December 31.
• Moore, who also made a key defensive play on the final play of the game, was 4-for-5 from the floor, 2 of 3 from 3-point land and 5 of 5 from the free throw line in the final five minutes and 28 seconds. The freshman also added four assists, three rebounds and a steal in the game.
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen converted two free throws with 4.6 seconds left to give the Red Flash the victory. Cohen finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.
• Junior Maxwell Land added 13 points and redshirt senior Marlon Hargis had 10 points in the first half.
• The "one-point blowout" marked the ninth time under head coach Rob Krimmel the team has played a one-point game. The Red Flash is now 4-5 in those contests with five of those tilts ended in a one-point game in regulation.
• It was the first one-point decision since the Loretto team lost 65-64 in OT to Merrimack on February 5, 2022.
• The last time Saint Francis played back-to-back one-point games was in 2014-15 when it defeated Sacred Heart 79-78 on Jan. 16, 2015 and then fell to St. Francis Brooklyn 60-59 two days later.
AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Give the Red Flash its third 3-0 start in program history in NEC play
• Be the team's first three-game winning streak since the 2019-20 season
• Be the squad's first road win of the season
• End a five-game losing streak to Wagner
TRENDING UP
• Saint Francis had eight different players record at least 18 minutes in each game during its last homestand and seven of the eight players all reached double figures in points in one of those games with three players notching 10+ points in both contests.
• The Red Flash is shooting 49.1 percent from behind the arc in the last three games (28-for-57) and were even more impressive in the two-game homestand by hitting at a 56.4 clip (22-for-39).
• Saint Francis is 5-1 this season when it makes at least eight baskets from behind the arc, which is also the total needed to give away free a free Big Mac at home games.
• Freshman Landon Moore has posted a pair of 20-point performances among his latest streak of four-straight games with 10 points or more. He is averaging 19.0 points per game in that stretch and has dished out at least four assists in three of those tilts.
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen needs 20 points for 800 points in his career and one rebound for 400 boards in his career. He would become the 33rd player in program history in the last 42 years to reach 800 points and 23rd player in that stretch with 400 career caroms. He will become the 18th player since the Red Flash joined the NEC to have 800 points and 400 rebounds in his career and seventh player to accomplish the feat for head coach Rob Krimmel.
• Junior Maxwell Land has registered double figures in his last two games and the eighth time this season. Land currently has 637 career points and can move ahead of his head coach with nine points. Krimmel registered 645 points as a player from 1997-00. Land is the 51st player to reach 600 points since Saint Francis joined the NEC.
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saint Francis makes its first trip to Wagner since the Seahawks ended the Red Flash 2021-22 season in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on March 2, 2022.
• That night might be one that most will want to forget, but for redshirt junior Brad McCabe it will be one that he will remember forever. When the team returned from Staten Island in the early morning of March 3, 2022, head coach Rob Krimmel announced to the team that McCabe would be awarded for his hard work and dedication to the team with a scholarship after originally joining the team as a walk-on.
• McCabe and fellow redshirt juniors Josh Cohen and Luke Ruggery will be playing in New York for the first time since their freshman year due to protocols last season.
• Prior to the two-game homestand, Cohen averaged 32.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in the three-game road trip right before Christmas.
• Coming into the season, the redshirt junior was much better at home than on the road. However, this season four of his top six performances have been away from DeGol Arena, including three games with 28 points or more.
• Saint Francis will play one game from January 1 to January 15 with its game in Staten Island on Saturday. It is the longest stretch playing one game in NEC play in program history.
• The Loretto program won back-to-back games with its victories against CCSU (80-72) and Stonehill for the first time since downing CCSU (January 21, 2022) and Sacred Heart (January 23, 2022) at home.
• The Frankies are looking for its first three or more game winning streak since winning eight straight from January 30-February 27, 2020. The team played seven of its eight games at home during that winning streak in that stretch.
• For the first time since the 2018-19 season, the Red Flash did not win a game on the road during the non-conference slate. In that season, the squad earned its first road win with a 74-67 win at LIU on January 10, 2019 in the team's first NEC road test of the season. The team would go 6-3 on the road that season in NEC play and 6-3 at home to finish with a 12-6 league record and the No. 1 seed in the NEC Tournament.
• Wins are important on the road, but protecting DeGol Arena is the key to success under Krimmel. In the six seasons the Red Flash has finished .500 or better in league play under the coach, the team has posted a winning mark and at least eight wins at home.
• The Red Flash is 5-3 at home in 2022-23 after posting just four wins in each of the last two seasons in Loretto.
• Saint Francis is 2-0 in NEC play for the 10th time and looking to win three-straight for just third time in program history.
• In 1990-91, the Red Flash reeled off six-straight wins, but that is the only team to win a game on the road to keep the streak alive to start a season. The squad won its first four games at home and its first two on the road before its first conference loss.
• The 2002-03 team went 3-0 to start the circuit, but those first three games were at home and then suffered its first loss on the road in the third game of the NEC season.
• Saint Francis is 0-7 when trying to improve to 3-0 to start league play when the third game is on the road.
• The Red Flash is 9-22 in the first road game in league play in the 42nd season of the NEC.
• Saint Francis returns home to host LIU on Saturday, January 16.
