Women's Soccer Set to visit LIU

OPENING PITCH
Saint Francis women's soccer return to action on Thursday, Oct. 12 when they head out to Brooklyn to play LIU. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
 
The Red Flash will be looking to build upon their 1-0 win over Le Moyne on Oct. 8 as they fight for a NEC tournament spot.
 
Saint Francis currently sits sixth in the NEC table, occupying the last seed in the tournament. They are level on points (9) with Wagner and are two points ahead of Sacred Heart, who is in seventh.
 
Lauren Pyle has been in great form recently for Saint Francis. She is coming off a week in which she was involved in both Red Flash goals, assisting on the Mercedez Paino goal against Wagner and scoring the game-winner on a missile of a shot from 30 yards out.
 
Pyle has began to catch fire in recent games, tallying four points in her last five games.

THE WORD ON LIU
The Sharks enter the matchup at 6-6-1 overall, and 2-4 in the NEC. Last time out, LIU lost 2-0 to Fairleigh Dickinson after conceding two second half goals.
 
Stephanie Schubert leads the Sharks in scoring with nine points from four goals and an assist. Gina Proviano is second on LIU in points with six from a goal and four assists.

LAST TIME WE MET
The last time Saint Francis and LIU met was Oct. 23, 2022 when the Red Flash defeated LIU 3-1 in Loretto. Tomke Dziesiaty, Raine Korpics and Corinne Renninger each scored a goal while Pyle, Coletta Ozbey and Ellie Aston assisted on a goal each.
 
Saint Francis and LIU have met 30 times before, with Saint Francis leading the series 19-9-2
 
The Red Flash have won the last seven matches between the two sides dating back to 2015, and are 9-0-1 against the Sharks since 2013.
 
Saint Francis and LIU have a storied history of matchups in the NEC tournament. The two sides have met five times total, including four encounters in the final. The Red Flash and Sharks split the four finals they have met in, while LIU won their semifinal match in 2005.

The Red Flash return to Loretto on Oct. 15 when Merrimack comes to town. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
