Rigby’s Brace Leads Men’s Soccer to 2-0 Victory At Sacred Heart, Secures Tournament Berth

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer shut out Sacred Heart 2-0 to secure a Northeast Conference Tournament berth Sunday afternoon in Fairfield, Connecticut.
 
>> The Red Flash are now 6-0-6 overall and 4-0-2 in conference with 14 points.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
In the 59th minute Saint Francis was awarded a free kick 10 yards from the penalty box near the sideline. Sophomore Julian Jakopovic (Stuttgart, Germany) tapped a pass to junior Maximus Rigby (York, England). Rigby made a quick run and broke the scoreless deadlock with a stunning long-distance goal. The goal was Rigby's first of the season. FLASH MOMENT
The Red Flash doubled their lead in the 74th as Rigby finished his brace after a great pass from Joschi Schelb (Freiburg, Germany) sent him in scoring position. The midfielder was able to launch a shot in almost identical fashion to his first for his second goal of the season.

>> With the victory, Saint Francis extends their unbeaten streak to 12. Saint Francis is one of four teams in the country without a loss this season.
 
>> The two teams were tied with three corners a piece while the Red Flash had the 11-10 edge in shots.
 
>> Mikey Chiha (Harrisburg, Pa.), Milan Djajic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Rigby led the Red Flash with two shots a piece in the win.
 
>> Goalkeeper Jordaine Jaeger (Munich, Germany) registered two saves against the Pioneers to collect his fifth clean sheet this season and 10th of his career.
 
>> Schelb recorded his sixth assist of the season. The freshman is one assist away from tying the fifth most assist in program history in a single season.
 
>> Rigby's two goals in a single match are a career high for the junior.

Saint Francis will return to the Stokes Soccerplex for their final home match of the regular season against Merrimack Sunday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. The Red Flash will also celebrate their seniors before the match.
