Timm, Landwehr Headline Standout Team Effort at Conference Opener

The Saint Francis bowling team bowled to a 2-1 record on the first day of the first Northeast Conference Bowling tournament.

THEY RANK THEM, WE TAKE THEM DOWN
Seniors Samantha Timm and Kassidy Landwehr led the way in the two wins for the Red Flash (12-17, 2-1 NEC), which came at the beginning and the end of Saturday's three-game slate.

Timm took control in the win over No. 11 Duquesne, bowling five strikes and eliminating 198 pins in the leadoff role.

Landwehr, holding down the anchor spot in the win over No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson, posted a 234-pin performance that included seven strikes and nine consecutive filled frames to start the match.

LOADS OF STRIKES
It didn't matter who was in or where they were placed - the Red Flash bowlers found ways to get strikes. All six bowlers notched at least three strikes through the course of the day, including freshman Hayden Bennett, who did so in just nine opportunities.

THIS FEELS DIFFERENT
The Frankies came in with a losing record against both the field and conference opponents. Although that often can tell the future, that wasn't the case today for Saint Francis.

The Red Flash came in ranked seventh of eight teams in the NEC, with Wagner sitting as the lone team below them. That was turned around on Saturday, when they defeated Duquesne and Fairleigh Dickinson, who were both seeded as two of the top three teams in the conference.

LOOK TO THE FINAL DAY
The Red Flash will conclude the tournament against the four remaining teams in the conference. They start with Long Island University, seeded sixth in the conference, followed by a matchup against Sacred Heart in their first meeting since the Pioneers defeated the Frankies in the NEC Play in last season. They finish with Niagara and Wagner, who are seeded fifth and eighth in the conference, respectively.
