With momentum on FDU's side after winning the third set, the Red Flash still had two solid runs to attempt the comeback in the fourth. Down 23-12, a four-point run narrowed the Knights' lead. After a service error by FDU began scoring for Saint Francis, an attack error kept the scoring going. A serve by
Korrin Burns (Clarion, Pa.) was met with miscommunication by the Knights, earning another point and causing FDU to take a timeout. FDU had another error coming out of the timeout, narrowing the score to 23-16.
After FDU made it to match point, Saint Francis had a three-point run to try and stay in the match. Eicher sailed the ball into the back corner of the FDU side, tallying her final kill.
Drew Wallech (Hagerstown, Md.) served the ball into a Knight on the back line who was unable to play the ball, making the score 24-19 before FDU got the win.
FLASH MOMENTS
Tied at 12 apiece in the opening set, a three-point run gave Saint Francis some energy. A hard shot by Burns began the scoring for the Red Flash. After an ace by Burns, Eicher got the ball past the Knights' defense to take a 15-12 lead before dropping the first set.
After another back-and-forth in the second set,
Aubrey Deptula (Boca Raton, Fla.) found a hole on the FDU side, tallying a kill. With a bad set by the Knights setting up set point for the Red Flash. With Red Flash fans on their feet, Deptula dealt a solid block at the middle of the net to win the second set.
FLASH NUGGETS
Burns earned second on the team in kills with 12.
Alexandra Sappia (West Palm Beach, Fla.) recorded 17 assists to lead Saint Francis.
Burns and Sappia each tallied two service aces.
Deptula earned two solo and two assisted blocks, the most for the Red Flash.
Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria) led the team in digs with 15.
