LORETTO, Pa. –
Cam Gregory (Accokeek, Md./The Steward's School [Va.]), a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, has been named a Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer for the week of November 22-26.
Gregory averaged 16.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in a 2-1 week for the Red Flash. The sophomore shot 50 percent from the floor (21-for-42) in the three games and posted the two highest scoring totals by a Saint Francis player this year in the week. Gregory registered a then career-high 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting in a 77-63 win against Pitt Greensburg on Monday. He then added seven points and four assists in a 107-54 win against Franciscan on Wednesday, including dropping a 3-pointer to start the scoring in the game 12 seconds into the night to give the Frankies the lead they would not relinquish. The Accokeek, Md., native then posted a career-high 22 points against Niagara on Saturday. The sophomore fueled a 25-10 run in the second half to cut a 20-point margin to five points in the final two minutes of the game with 14 points thanks to 6-for-9 shooting in the run. Gregory has registered double figures four times this season and eight times in his career and now has scored over 15 points three times in his career. After only scoring in double figures once in his freshman year at DeGol Arena, the sophomore has three 10+ point games at home and five on the road.
Gregory leads the team with 11.9 points per game and with pacing the squad in assists (12) and steals (6). On the year, the sophomore is shooting 41.0 percent from the floor (32-for-78), 28.0 percent from 3-point land (28.0) and 80.0 percent from the free throw line (12 of 15).
This is Gregory's first NEC Prime Performer recognition, but not his first weekly honor by the league. The sophomore was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of November 28-December 4, 2022 after posting a then career-high 15 points at Ohio State on December 3, a total that he eclipsed twice this week with his performances against Pitt Greensburg and Niagara.
Saint Francis returns to action and starts a three-game road trip at Lehigh on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m. The game against the Mountain Hawks will be followed by another Patriot League opponent when the squad travels to American on Saturday.
