SELECT GAME NOTES VS. LEHIGH (FULL GAME NOTES PDF)
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Wednesday's game between Saint Francis and Lehigh marks the 20th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1969-70 season.
• The Mountain Hawks ended a two-game losing streak in the series last season with an 66-55 win in Loretto.
• The Red Flash's last win in the series was a 79-68 victory in Bethlehem in 2021-22 to end a six-game losing streak in games played in the Lehigh Valley.
• Lehigh and fellow Patriot League team American have been the only non-conference opponent to appear on the Frankies schedule every season but the 2020-21 COVID-19 season since head coach
Rob Krimmel took the helm in 2012-13.
• This is Patriot League week for the Red Flash since after its game at Lehigh the team will travel to American on Saturday.
• It will be third time the Saint Francis will play Lehigh and American in consecutive games. The trick was also turned in 2013-14 when both Patriot League teams came to Loretto and in 2011-12 the Loretto teams traveled to Lehigh and then hosted American.
• Saint Francis is 27-42 against the Patriot League and 7-24 away from Loretto against the conference.
• The Red Flash went 0-3 against the league last season with losses to American, Bucknell and Lehigh.
• The team is looking for its first win against the Patriot League since defeating Bucknell 93-67 on December 1, 2021 and its first road win against the league since the last time the Frankies played at Stabler Arena.
• Saint Francis will play three conferences multiple times this season. The team will play the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference three times (Niagara [L, 61-69), at Iona [December 10) and host Mount St. Mary's [December 15]). The Red Flash played two teams from the West Coast Conference (San Francisco [L, 52-84]] and Santa Clara [L, 59-82]) and then will play the next two games against the Patriot League. If this was next season then the team would have played two Big 10 teams with Penn State and UCLA.
• Saint Francis is 338-314-2 against all the teams in the state of Pennsylvania. The Red Flash is 86-239 against NCAA Division I teams and 252-75-2 against non-NCAA Division I teams.
• For the second-straight season, the squad will play four fellow Keystone state teams this season. Saint Francis will host Pitt Greensburg (W, 77-63) and Robert Morris (December 20), while also traveling to Penn State (L, 53-84) and Lehigh (November 29).
• Krimmel is 23-23 against the state of Pennsylvania, including 1-1 this season with a win at home and a loss on the road.
• Saint Francis has played its most games against teams from the western part of the state in program history. The Red Flash have tangled with Robert Morris the most in the state with 91 meetings. Duquesne has been on the squad 75 times, Saint Vincent 65 times, Westminster 43 times, Geneva 39 times and Pittsburgh 30 times.
• Krimmel coached his 150th game at DeGol Arena on Saturday against Niagara and comes into the game on Wednesday at Lehigh looking for his 150th career win as a head coach.
• Krimmel's first season was 2012-13 and in that season he played four non-conference teams that are also on this year's slate (Penn State, Niagara, American and Lehigh).
• His first career win was at home, where he has won 60 percent of his games with a 90-60 record, against CCSU on January 3, 2013. Krimmel's 100th career win was almost four years ago to the night the team is playing against Lehigh against another Keystone State team. The Frankies defeated Saint Joseph's 79-68 on November 30, 2019 for his 100th career win.
• Since returning from its four-game road trip to start the season, the longest time away to start the season since 2003-04, the team is now in a stretch of threes.
• The team just finished up a three-game homestand and begins a three-game road trip with its games at Lehigh, American (Dec. 2) and Iona (December 10).
• Saint Francis will return to Loretto for another three-game homestand through the end of the 2023 calendar year.'
AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be head coach
Rob Krimmel's 150th career win and four years and a day from his 100th career win , which was also on the road in the Keystone State (W, 79-68 at Saint Joseph's, November 30, 2019)
• Be the squad's second-straight win at Stabler Arena
• Be the team's first win on the road this season
• Be the team's second win against a team from PA
• Be the third win in four games for the Red Flash
