Women's Volleyball Sweeps CCSU on Senior Day

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>The Red Flash best CCSU in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-14).

>>Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, Pa.) led Saint Francis with 14 kills.

TURNING POINT
Fueled by a two-set advantage, the Red Flash sealed the deal in the third set. Korrin Burns (Clarion, Pa.) and Drew Wallech (Hagerstown, Md.) tallied a block before Allison Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa.) found the back right corner of the Blue Devils' side. An error by CCSU caused them to take a timeout, but the Red Flash did not ease up. The Blue Devils sent the ball outside, giving Saint Francis another point. With the serve still with the Red Flash, Eicher hit the ball into CCSU's block attempt, sending the ball onto the court on the Blue Devils' side to make the score 21-12. Later in the set, a service error by CCSU set up match point, bringing Red Flash fans to their feet. Eicher sailed the ball into the back row of CCSU with the ball going too far out of play, giving Saint Francis the win.

FLASH MOMENTS
A four-point run in the middle of the first set gave Saint Francis some energy to win the set. McClure sent the ball just past the Blue Devils' defense to begin the run. Eicher then found the same spot in their defense to tie the set at 14 apiece. With Red Flash fans excited, Murray kept the ball just inbounds and out of reach of CCSU. Burns got the ball off the hands of the Blue Devils' middle hitter, causing them to take a timeout. McClure was in the center of the action late in the set, earning the kill to set up set point and tallying a block with Deptula to take the set.

Coming from behind, a six-point run in the second set helped the Red Flash to take a 2-0 set lead. A block by Burns and Wallech stretched the lead to 18-16. Emma Fenton (Latrobe, Pa.) tallied a service ace with the Blue Devils unable to make a play. Murray was versatile, tipping the ball over for a kill and earning another, sending the ball past the CCSU defense. The Blue Devils sent the ball long twice, pushing Saint Francis closer to 25 points. At set point, Murray sent the ball just inside on the CCSU side to win the set 25-18.

FLASH NUGGETS
Fenton and Eicher tallied a service ace in the win. Fenton also led the team in digs with 10.

The Red Flash defense put on an impressive performance with four players registering multiple blocks. Deptula recorded one solo and three assisted blocks. Murray and Wallech each earned four assisted blocks, and Burns tallied three assisted blocks.
