LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball is set to open the season at home for the first time since 2012 with a matchup against Robert Morris on Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.

Destini Ward leads returners from last season after she ranked third on the team with 7.1 points per game and added 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals per game. She started 17-of-29 games played for the Red Flash last season.
Kaitlyn Maxwell returns this season after an injury kept her out of the 2022-23 campaign. She averaged 6.6 points, 1.9 assists and 0.8 steals per game in her first two collegiate seasons. In 2021-22, she averaged 40.5-percent on three-point field goals, which was eighth in single-season program history. Saint Francis has a young roster with six freshmen and five sophomores. The active roster features three players with at least 20 games of collegiate playing experience and only Maxwell and Ward have the experience at the Division I level.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials lost Phoenix Gedeon, who was their 2022-23 leader in points (13.0) and rebounds (8.3) but returned the remaining three of their top four scorers. Danielle Vuletich finished with 7.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, Simone Morris finished with 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and Rebecca Dwomoh finished with 7.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Louella Allana returns her second-ranked 2.4 assists and Dwomoh returns her third-ranked 1.3 steals per game. The Colonials and Red Flash have just one common opponent this season, Youngstown State.

Robert Morris holds a 49-42 all-time advantage over the Red Flash since the first meeting in 1976. Saint Francis is 28-17 at home against Robert Morris. The Colonials have won six straight games over the Red Flash. The programs have a history as Northeast Conference rivals and met 11 times in the postseason tournament, with Saint Francis taking a 6-5 advantage. Both programs have produced a matchup-long 16-game winning streak in the 46-year matchup history.
Around the NEC
Sacred Heart enters the 2023-24 season off the NEC Tournament Title and was selected a unanimous favorite this season. Fairleigh Dickinson was the NEC Regular Season Champion with a 14-2 conference record last season. The NEC lost a long time member, St. Francis Brooklyn, when the university announced it would cut athletics after the 2022-23 season. In May 2023 the NEC announced the addition of Le Moyne, who was a four-time NCAA Division II East Regional participant in women's basketball before reclassifying to Division I.
