LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball is set to host Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 2 for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
Saint Francis Quick Hits
Kendall Carruthers continues to pace Saint Francis with 12.6 points per game and has 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals. She has scored at least 12 points in the last four games and is averaging 17 points per game during that stretch.

Saint Francis dropped its Wednesday night meeting at ACC opponent Pitt, 87-62. The Red Flash fell behind 10-2 early before an 8-0 run tied the game at 10 with 4:21 remaining in the opening frame. Pitt ended the first on a 16-4 run and led 26-14. The Panthers scored the first two points of the second quarter before an 11-0 Red Flash run cut the lead to 28-25. Pitt, however, opened its lead back to nine points, 40-31, at the half. In the second half, Pitt led by double-digits the final 18 minutes of the game, and as many as 28 points, before clinching its 25-point victory. Saint Francis had four players score in double figures in the same game for the first time this season.
Scouting Morgan State
The Bears enter Saturday's game with a 3-4 overall record with victories over Washington Adventist 59-57, Notre Dame of Maryland 75-32 and UNC Ashville 53-51. Morgan State is 1-4 against Division I opponents, which featured a 63-55 loss to NEC opponent Sacred Heart. Gabrielle Johnson paces Morgan State with 10.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game. Joelle Johnson follows with 8.6 points and leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game. Kaia Ponder averages 8.4 points per game with a team-high 45.1 shooting percentage from the field. Morgan State was picked third in the MEAC Preseason Poll and received one first-place vote.

Morgan State owns a 2-0 all-time advantage over Saint Francis with a 50-49 win last season and 62-53 win in 2007. During last season's game, Saint Francis held a 39-25 lead at the half before Morgan State came back and broke a 49-49 tie with two seconds left on a converted free throw.

Maxwell to Miss the Remainder of the 2023-24 Season
Senior guard
Kaitlyn Maxwell will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season after an injury sustained against Coppin State. She is set to undergo surgery in December. Prior to the injury, Maxwell began the campaign with an 18-point and 13-point outing in the first two games. She failed to record a point against Coppin State and finished the season 11-of-27 (40.7-percent) from the field and 7-of-12 (58.3-percent) from three-point territory.
