Women’s Basketball Heads to First-Place Fairleigh Dickinson

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball begins its final road trip of the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. against first-place Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
Saint Francis Quick Hits
Semaya Turner earned the first major Northeast Conference weekly honor of the season for Saint Francis with her Co-Rookie of the Week selection. She had a career-high 20 points and 15 rebounds in a win over LIU and is averaging 14.5 points per game in her last six games.  She ranks second on Saint Francis with 9.7 points per game during conference play. Aaliyah Moore earned her seventh NEC Prime Performer and is on a three-game double-double streak. She leads the NEC with 9.8 rebounds per game, which is 30th in the NCAA Division I, and she leads Saint Francis with 11 points per game during conference play. On the season, Moore has seven double-doubles, 11 double-digit scoring games and 12 double-digit rebounding games. Filippa Goula produced her 10th double-digit scoring game of the season with 10 points against LIU. She ranks third on Saint Francis with 7.4 points per game and is sixth in the NEC with 2.8 assists per game.
 
Last Time Out
Saint Francis won its final home game 61-58 over LIU. The Sharks began the game with an 8-2 run before they took a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second, LIU held a 24-16 lead with 3:54 remaining before Saint Francis scored the half's final eight points and tied the game at 24. In the third quarter, LIU reestablished a five-point, 34-29 lead, with 5:50 remaining before Saint Francis produced a 17-5 run the remainder of the third quarter and took a 46-38 lead. Out of the quarter break, Saint Francis produced an 8-2 run and opened a 54-40 lead with 6:40 remaining in the game. LIU responded with a 16-4 run and cut the deficit to 58-56 with 37 second remaining. After Saint Francis missed a three-point attempt, LIU missed an opportunity to take the lead with 20 seconds remaining. The Red Flash held a 61-58 lead with four second remaining and LIU was unable to get a game-tying shot attempt off.
 
Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson
The Knights enter Thursday night with an 11-2 conference and 19-6 overall record and are in first-place in the NEC by one game over Sacred Heart. Fairleigh Dickinson's only two conference losses both came against the Pioneers 70-67 on Feb. 16 and 71-62 on Jan. 21. The Knights have won 10 of their 11 conference games by at least 10 points and seven of them by at least 20. Chloe Wilson ranks third in the NEC with 16.8 points per game and is averaging 18.3 during conference play. She is also second in the conference with a 42.7 field goal percentage and fourth with 7.0 rebounds per game. Sierra DeAngelo is ninth in the NEC with 12.3 points per game and fifth with 0.9 blocks per game. As a team, Fairleigh Dickinson scores the most points per game (65.8) and allows the fewest points per game (53) in the NEC.
 
All-Time vs. Fairleigh Dickinson
Saint Francis holds a 47-25 all-time advantage over Fairleigh Dickinson since the first meeting in 1986. At Fairleigh Dickinson, the Red Flash hold a 20-15 all-time advantage and have won five of the last seven meetings in Teaneck, N.J. Fairleigh Dickinson took this season's matchup 71-45 on Jan. 26 behind 20 points from Dahomee Forgues. In the game, Moore scored a team-high 16 points for Saint Francis.

Fairleigh Dickinson remained atop the NEC standings at 11-2 with a 78-52 win over Wagner, who fell to 7-6. Merrimack moved into a third-place tie at 8-5 with a 73-66 win over Sacred Heart, who fell to 10-3. Saint Francis defeated LIU 61-58 and moved to 6-8, while the Sharks fell to 3-11. Stonehill defeated Central Connecticut 61-50 and improved to 4-10, while the Blue Devils fell to 3-10. On Thursday, Stonehill hosts Wagner, Fairleigh Dickinson hosts Saint Francis, St. Francis Brooklyn hosts Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut hosts Merrimack.
