AJ Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led Saint Francis as the setter on Friday by notching 25 assists. Schmidt also led the team in digs with seven on the day.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The Red Flash got on the board first in set one to never allow Sacred Heart to lead in the first set. A kill from Lewis, coming off the hands of Schmidt gave Saint Francis the first set, 25-21. Claiming the first set gave the Red Flash the momentum the team needed to claim the next two sets for the straight set victory.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Pioneers took its first lead of the game in the second set by getting on the board first at 1-0. However, that would be the only lead the Pioneers would have in set two and in the game as the Red Flash responded with a 5-1 to take the lead hold and hold it for the remainder of the second set. A service error gave the Red Flash set two, 25-17.
Set three was more of the same from the Red Flash. Saint Francis gained an early lead over Sacred Heart and never looked back. A service error from the Pioneers clinched the third and final set for the Red Flash, 25-18.
FLASH NUGGETS
Brady Stump (York, Pa./York Suburban) earned a new career best hitting percentage in Friday's sweep with a .385.
The Red Flash continue to lead in the overall series against the Pioneers, now currently standing at 29-5.
