April 30 is Fun 5k Campus Tour - Possibly our biggest event of the year! This is an untimed 5K fun run through Saint Francis University. We seek to offer an enjoyable first fitness event of the season to those getting in shape after the long winter while showing off our beautiful landscape to those that would otherwise not experience certain aspects of our campus. It is only $20 to enter which goes to the Red Flash Cheer and Dance teams for equipment during the season. Please park in Stokes Lower Lot and walk up to the Red Flash Softball Field near Saint Joseph Hall. There will be three (3) complimentary water stations along the 5k loop. The trail does get narrow so we ask faster runners to start early but always pass on the left and walk on the right side of the trail.
8 AM - Volunteers Arrive to set up water stations, signs and road cones. Vendors arrive.
9 AM - Registration Begins near the softball outfield by St Joseph Hall (Listen for Music).
10 AM - First Heat begins: 10 runners every 2 minutes = 300 runners max (fast runners go first).
11 AM - Last Heat Begins
Noon - Wrap up the event
*This event is rain or shine. If there is thunder between 9 AM - noon the event will be canceled.
The course starts and ends near the Red Flash Softball Field. There is 600 feet of elevation change. Most of the course is on grass or dirt trail however some parts are cement. You will tour past locations such as: Mt Assisi Gardens, JFK Student Center, FLASH Leadership Reaction Course, Father Bede Hines Track, DeGol Field, Future site of the Resinski Black Box Theatre, Grotto Pathway, McGuire Park Trail, SFU Wastewater Treatment Facility, Captain Michael McGuire Memorial Park, SFU Disc Golf Course, Lakeview Tubing Park, Lake Saint Francis and the Camino de Saint Francis Watershed Trail.
