>> Saint Francis University track and field's Nickolas Hyde and Madeline Murphy broke school records in their respective events at the VMI Winter Relays in Lexington, Virginia this weekend.

>> Hyde threw for 17.42m in the shot put, breaking his previous record of 17.41m set in 2019. The Somerset, Pa. native took first place in the event.

>> Murphy broke the 20-year-old long jump with her mark of 5.66m, taking first. The previous record was held by Tracie Clair with her mark of 5.60m at Bucknell.

FLASH WOMEN NUGGETS
Caroline Ratchford (Ebensburg, Pa.) took the gold in the high jump, clearing 1.65m. The senior's mark moves her from fourth Saint Francis all-time to third. Freshman Saige Wilt (Middletown, Pa.) took fifth in the event with a mark of 1.45m.

Murphy placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.90m. Fellow senior Jenna Beitel (Saltsburg, Pa.) finished second in the event, clearing 11.35m. Freshman Brooke Long (Altoona, Pa.) took fifth in the triple jump (10.56m).

Senior Rhoda Alaban-Tafon (Glen Burnie, Md.) got the silver in the 400m dash with a time of 58.69. Alaban-Tafon also placed fourth in the 200m dash, clocking a 26.21.

Senior Gabrielle Stanavich (Amsterdam, N.Y.) placed third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.05.

Sophomore Emma Fleck (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took fifth in the 1000m with a time of 3:12.97. Freshman Morgan McNaughton (Summerville, Pa.) finished closely behind Fleck, placing sixth with a time of 3:13.30.

In the weighted throw, Caroline Fyock (McMurray, Pa.) threw for 14.53m, earning her fifth place in the event. Fyock also competed in the shot put, taking first with a mark of 12.61m.

Senior Quinn McElhenney (Hastings, Pa.) finished second in the 5000m, clocking a 18:44.68. Adiya Golden (Wilkes Barre, Pa.) came in fourth in the event (19:58.39).

The 4x800m team of Tesslyn Helms (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Claire Oliver (Sandy Lake, Pa.), Mariclare Anderson (Hagerstown, Md.) and Naomi Hillen (Pottstown, Pa.) crossed the finish line with a time of 9:49.49 to take second, ranking 10th SFU all-time.

Sophomore David Niang (Harrisburg, Pa.) ran a 8.19 in the 60m hurdles to take the gold.

Bryce Baker (Harrisburg, Pa.) took fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.92. Julian Saunders (Boyertown, Pa.) took fifth in the event, clocking a 6.96. Saunders also placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.83.

Sophomore Samir Smith (Clinton, Md.) took fourth in the 300m dash, clocking a 35.13. Smith also competed in the 400m dash, placing fifth with a time of 50.45.

In the 5000m run, sophomore Daniel Kelly (Spring Mills, Pa.) placed third, crossing the finish line at 16:11.89.

Ardonntrell Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) placed first in the long jump with a mark of 7.19m. Williams also placed sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.05 and ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 22.55.

Caleb Nelson (Bridgeville, Pa.) took second in the triple jump, leaping 14.39m. Sophomore Jasir Parker (Queens, N.Y.) finished third in the event with a mark of 13.90m.

In the weighted throw, Parker Hilaman (Granville, Ohio) threw for 16.32m to take second. Sophomore Trey Baney finished fourth with a mark of 15.03m.

Sophomore Dustin Hyde (Somerset, Pa.) placed second in the shot put (15.58m). Fellow sophomore, Jared Oakes (Sunbury, Pa.) finished third with a mark of 15.47m, putting him eighth SFU all-time.

Senior Ryan Harman (Fairport, N.Y.) placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25m.
