PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's tennis dropped its match 4-3 to George Mason, while the men's team lost 4-0. The matches were played as a continuation of Sunday's postponed matches.
Women's: Saint Francis 2, Duquesne 4
Doubles
Duquesne took the doubles point with victories in all-three matches played. Both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches were decided by a 6-4 margin.
Singles
The Dukes took a win in three of the five singles matches played to earn its victory.
Bente Vandeputte took a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 1 match and
Kelly Dowuona won 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. All-three Duquesne wins were in straight sets.
Men's: Saint Francis 0, Duquesne 7
Doubles
Duquesne took two of the three doubles matches played to earn the point.
Christian Banti and
Patrick Reese won the No. 2 doubles match 6-3, while the No. 1 match was decided 7-5 and the No. 3 was 6-4.
Singles
The Dukes took all-six singles matches to earn its 7-0 shutout victory.
Adam Kush's 6-4, 0-6, 1-6 loss in the No. 1 match was the only one not settled in two sets. Reese's 4-6, 4-6 loss in the No. 5 match was the closest margin of defeat in two sets.
