LORETTO, PA. – The Red Flash get back in the water this weekend as they prepare for a huge three game set against ranked teams such as Brown, Princeton, and Harvard. Saint Francis has won three out of their last five contests dating back to March 14th as they now have the opportunity to make noise in the conference standings.Â
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown comes into the season ranked as the 21st team in the country with an 18-6 record but have recently lost two in a row. The Bears are 0-2 in conference play as they lost in close matchups to Princeton and Harvard. Brown is led by their two seniors Zoe King and Claire Pisani who have combined for 49 goals on the year for the Rhode Island institution. In net, there have been two primary goalkeepers being Shauna Franke and Roxanne Hazuka who have combined for 147 saves so far this season.Â
The Red Flash faced off against Brown last season as they lost a close game by the score of 11-8.
Emese Szucs led Saint Francis with three goals while
Addison Williams had a program record eight assists against the Bears in this matchup.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton has been one of the more consistent teams in the country and are now ranked as the 7th best team in the nation with a 19-2 record. Their only two losses came against nationally ranked UCLA and Wagner. The Tigers are led offensively by Jovan Sekulic who's scored 51 goals so far this year and also has 14 steals. Lindsey Lucas has been a mainstay in goal for Princeton as she has 189 saves with six assists and six steals in the 2023 campaign.
These two squads last met in the 2022 season where Princeton came out victorious over the Red Flash.
Abigail Carter,
Kimberly Frostad, and
Haiden Lang all scored for Saint Francis while
Isabel Lumley had eight saves.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard comes into the weekend with a 17-4 record which is good for 14th in the country but the team has also lost two out of their last three games. The Crimson are led by Danny Zepata and Annabel Facey who combined for five goals in their last win against Santa Clara. Zoe King guides Harvard in net as she broke a program record with 19 saves in their last win.Â
Saint Francis matched up against the Crimson last April as Harvard came out with the win.
Addison Williams led the Red Flash with three goals while
Haiden Lang also cotnributed with two goals.Â
THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash have been successful in the pool as of late winning three out of their last five games and most recently against their in-stat rival, Bucknell.
Emese Szucs continues her strong 2023 campaign as shed led all Saint Francis players with four goals in the win against Bucknell.
Taylor Halbauer has been a dominant presence on both sides of the pool as she recorded seven blocks, two assists, and one goal against the Bison.Â
