Women’s Basketball Drops NEC Quarterfinal Match at Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, MA.  –  Saint Francis University women's basketball dropped its NEC quarterfinal match on Monday against Merrimack, 60-66. 
With Monday's loss, the Red Flash complete the 2022-23 season.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Semaya Turner and Aaliyah Moore led the Red Flash for the duo to both notch a double-double in the game. Turner with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Moore with 14 points and 20 boards. Turner also added three steals.
» Sam Miller added nine points and five rebounds for the Red Flash.
» The Red Flash out-rebounded the Warriors in Monday's game, 47-31.  
 
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
The Warriors started the game off with a 10-4 run to put the Merrimack ahead of the Red Flash throughout the first quarter. A 6-0 start from Saint Francis in the second quarter tied the game at 16. However, a three-pointer from Marissa Hamilton, put the Warriors back on top to allow the team to hold the 27-20 lead at the half.
 
The Red Flash started off the second half with an 8-0 run to take the lead to turn the remainder of the game into a very close battle. However, with the Red Flash up 50-47 in the fourth quarter, Merrimack notched a 6-0 run to get ahead and stay ahead for the remainder of the game. The Warriors extended its lead later in the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run for Merrimack to snag the win.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
Moore's 20 rebounds on Monday was a new collegiate game high.
 
In addition, Turner's four steals in Monday's game was a new game high for the freshman.  
 
NEXT
Monday's loss puts an end to the 2022-23 season for the Red Flash. Saint Francis will now turn its attention to the 2023-24 stanza.
