LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball swept its Sunday doubleheader against Wagner with a 5-2 win in game one and 2-0 win in game two. The Red Flash have swept all-three of their conference doubleheaders this season and hold a 7-1 conference record.

Rachel Marsden (6-9) threw a complete game with two hits, one walk and six strikeouts in the game two win. At the plate she went 2-for-6 with two runs scored, one double and one RBI.

Jordan Pietrzykoski went 4-for-7 with one run scored, one double and one RBI.

Ashley Wruble went 2-for-5 and scored one run with two RBIs.

Grace Vesco (9-7) threw a complete game and allowed two runs on four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in the game one win.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME ONE
» Saint Francis was off to a strong start with five runs in the first two innings. Wruble hit a two-run single and
Sydney Baker hit a one-run double to give Saint Francis a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
» In the second inning, the Red Flash expanded the lead to 5-0 behind RBI singles from Pietrzykoski and Marsden. Saint Francis left at least one runner on base the final four turns at-bat but Wagner held them scoreless.
» In the seventh inning, the Seahawks cut the lead to 5-2 behind a Makenzie Miller two-run single. With the bases loaded, Vesco produced a groundout to seal the game one victory.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME TWO
» Saint Francis took an early lead when
Tessa Thompson scored on a Wagner wild pitch. Thompson expanded the lead to 2-0 with a triple in the fourth inning that drove in Wruble.
» During the top half of that fourth, Marsden allowed her first hit of the game and allowed her second in the seventh inning.
» With two runners on in the seventh inning,
Olivia Ulam turned an unassisted double play to end game two and seal Saint Francis' doubleheader sweep.
FLASH NUGGETS
» Vesco's victory in game one was the 50th of her career, which is two shy of tying the program record. She continues to inch closer to the career strikeouts record with 513, which is 62 shy Laura Caldwell's record.
» Marsden now has 42 wins in her career, which is one shy of entering the top five in program history. She has now allowed one run (unearned) in her last five starts, which totaled 27 innings.
» Pietrzykoski hit the 20th double of her Red Flash career and she leads the team with six this season. She also leads Saint Francis with a .337 batting average and .387 on-base percentage.
