LORETTO, PA. – The Red Flash look to get back in the water for an eventful weekend as they host the Mercyhurst Lakers in a nonconference matchup and a Senior Day ceremony.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Mercyhurst comes in as a nontraditonal nonconference opponent as they play most of their matchups at the Divison II level as part of the Western Water Polo Association. The Lakers come in with a 6-9 overall record and 2-1 in conference play so far in the 2023 season. Mercyhurst is guided on offense by Hanna Good who leads the team with 18 goals and 43 shots this year.
The Red Flash have competed against the Lakers four times in the series history with Saint Francis winning in all four matchups. Most recently in 2021, the Red Flash were victorious by a final score of 10-4 with
Taylor Halbauer leading Saint Francis with five goals and
Abigail Carter chipping in with three goals herself.

The Red Flash will look to get back on the winning track after the last three matchups all of which being on the road. The Red Flash have four goal scorers who havve all reached 30 goals or more on the season being
Taylor Halbauer (52),
Caylah Olay (46),
Abigail Carter (32), and
Emese Szucs (68). Senior
Taylor Halbauer has been achieving great heights at both ends of the pool this season as she's first on the team with blocks (51) and ejections drawn (52), but also second on the team in goals and assists. Freshman sensation
Caylah Olay has made her mark on the team this year as she has the most goals (46) by any first-year player since
Emese Szucs in 2021 when she finished the season with 50.
