KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Saint Francis University football dropped its season-opening game against FBS opponent Western Michigan 35-17.

Turning Points of the Game
Western Michigan started the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter. The Broncos scored with 12:35 left in the second quarter and extended the lead to 14-0. Saint Francis cut the lead to 14-3 on
Mac Plummer's first-career field goal (21 yards).

Western Michigan added a third rushing touchdown with 5:40 remaining in the first half before Doyle found Snyder for a 77-yard touchdown with 1:12 remaining and cut the deficit to 21-10.

Out of the half, Holmes rushed for a five-yard touchdown and cut the Western Michigan lead to 21-17. The Broncos added its first passing touchdown with 2:17 remaining in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Western Michigan added the final touchdown with 13:01 remaining before it sealed the 35-17 victory.

The 77-yard touchdown to Snyder was the first Saint Francis passing play over 70 yards since Nov. 20, 2021. Doyle's previous long pass was 65 yards, while Snyder's previous long catch was 55.

Mekhi Workman each recorded four catches, with 72 and 62 yards, respectively.
