Women's Soccer Opens Conference Play Against CCSU

OPENING PITCH
Saint Francis University women's soccer returns home for the first time since Aug. 27 for their conference opener against Central Connecticut State on Sunday Sep. 17.
 
It is the first of a two game stretch at home for the Red Flash, and they will look to gain some momentum after a 4-1 defeat to Cleveland State in their non-conference finale on Thursday Sep. 7. The series between the two sides began on Oct. 13, 1996 with Saint Francis falling to the Blue Devils, 4-2.
 
This will be the 31st edition of this matchup, and the 17th in Loretto. In those 16 previous matchups, Saint Francis is 9-5-1.

THE WORD ON CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE
The Blue Devils enter the matchup at 2-4-1 with wins over Siena and Fairfield. Central Connecticut State only lost by one goal in each of their four losses this season
 
Senior forward Giavanna Inzerillo has been amongst the country's most prolific scorers so far this season, leading Central Connecticut State with eight goals and 17 points on the season. Junior forward Abby Burgess leads the Blue Devils in assists with four.

LAST TIME WE MET
The last time Saint Francis and Central Connecticut State played was on Oct. 27, 2022 in a game that the Red Flash dropped 2-0 in New Britain. The Red Flash registered seven shots in that game, four of which were on goal.

The Red Flash will host Delaware State on Thursday, Sep. 21. Kick off will be at 1:00 p.m. at Stokes Soccerplex.
