The Red Flash conceded in the 27th minute but were still hanging tough. Duquesne scored a second goal just 15 seconds before the halftime whistle to put the Dukes up 2-0 at the break.
Duquesne would maintain their halftime lead until the final whistle.
FLASH MOMENTS
Raine Korpics (Walnutport, Pa.) had a scoring chance in the fourth minute, but just pushed it wide to the right. Korpics had another shot later in the half, but was denied.Â
Colletta Ozbey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a chance in the 36th minute, but hooked it wide to the left.Â
Coming out of the half, Caterina Schiavo (Sicklerville, N.J.) nearly cut the Red Flash deficit in half, but her shot sailed over the crossbar. The chance was created by a great effort from Lauren Persichetty (Staten Island, N.Y.) to keep the ball in play.Â
FLASH NUGGETS
Sophia Filipowski (Hockessin, Del.) made the first start of her collegiate career in the contest. Â
Rory Schaeffer (Buffalo, N.Y.) made her first appearance of the season.Â
Sawich's eight saves were just one shy of her career high set on Aug. 20, 2023. She has at least five saves in all three of her starts this season.Â
