Women's Soccer Preps for Road Match With Cleveland State

OPENING PITCH
Saint Francis University women's soccer heads out to Cleveland, Ohio., for a matchup against Cleveland State to wrap up a three-game road stand.

It is the final non-conference game on the schedule for the Red Flash, and they will look to bounce back after a 2-0 defeat to Duquesne on Sunday Sep. 3. The series between the two sides began on Sep. 2, 2005 with Saint Francis besting the Vikings, 3-0.
 
This will be the third time that Red Flash and Cleveland State will square off. It is the first time the game will be in Cleveland.

THE WORD ON CLEVELAND STATE
The Vikings enter the matchup at 2-4 with road wins over St. Bonaventure and Belmont.
 
Junior forward Erica Leinweber and sophomore midfielder Mayra Sesmas lead Cleveland State with two goals each on the season. Sesmas leads the team with five points.

LAST TIME WE MET
The last time Saint Francis and Cleveland State played in a regular season matchup was on Sep. 1, 2022 in a game that the Red Flash dropped 4-1 in LorettoLauren Pyle put away a penalty kick for the lone Saint Francis goal in the contest.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash return home for their conference opener on Sunday, Sep. 17 for a matchup against Central Connecticut State. Kick off will be at 4:00 p.m. at Stokes Soccerplex.
