With an energetic two-set lead, the Red Flash were able to capture the win in the fourth set. After losing a lead early in the set, a service error by Belmont put the Red Flash back on track.
Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, Pa.) tallied two kills to tie and then regain the lead for Saint Francis.
Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) scored a service ace to further the Red Flash lead, which they held for the rest of the match.
Despite the Saint Francis comeback in set three, Wofford was able to come away with the win in the fourth set. The Terriers began the set with three service aces and a kill, taking advantage of two errors to take a seven-point lead. The Red Flash fought to cut their lead but could not make it out of the set on top.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash dominated in set one against Belmont.
Aubrey Deptula (Boca Raton, Fla.) tallied two kills with Eicher registering one of her own to give Saint Francis a 3-0 lead. Still holding a sizeable lead, Deptula landed another two kills.
Korrin Burns (Clarion, Pa.) also scored two kills, combining with an attack error to push the Saint Francis lead to 15-4.
In set three, the Red Flash had three solid runs to upset Wofford's momentum and win the set. In an early five-point run, Eicher tallied three kills with
Alexa Chapla (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earning a service ace and the team taking advantage of an error by Wofford. Saint Francis edged ahead again later in the set with another kill by Eicher, a service ace by
Alexandra Sappia (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and two more errors by Wofford. To claim the third set, the Red Flash offense struck again with
Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) and Eicher each tallying a kill, while Deptula scored two of her own.
FLASH NUGGETS
Eicher earned a spot in the Red Flash record books in the match against the Bruins with 26 kills. The reigning NEC/Molten Player of the Week now sits in fifth place for most kills in a match.
A Prime Performer this week, Burns earned another double-double against Belmont, registering 14 kills and 12 digs.
Kori McClure (Westerville, Ohio) also had a standout performance in today's first match. Coming into the match with a total of 18 digs, she tallied 11 kills and an impressive 20 digs, her second double-double this season and then some. She also scored on seven service aces.
Eicher had a strong game in the second match of the day, as well, earning a double-double with a team-leading 20 kills and 17 digs.
Hogan, spending time as libero and outside hitter, tallied three service aces against the Terriers. On defense, the junior registered 13 blocks.
Ava Holden (Macungie, Pa.) led the team in blocks against Wofford with three.
