Women’s Basketball Travels to FDU on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Saint Francis University women's basketball continues its road trip on Monday, Jan. 15 for a 2 p.m. tip-off at FDU on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
 
Saint Francis Quick Hits
Destini Ward had led Saint Francis in scoring during all-three games to start conference play. She is third in the Northeast Conference with 17.3 points per game during conference play and she averages 10.4 per game overall. Kendall Carruthers continues to lead Saint Francis with 11.3 points per game overall this season and she averages 12.3 during conference play. Julianna Gibson regained the Red Flash lead in rebounds with 4.9 per game followed by Marina Artero's 4.8. Kameryn Dorsey paces the Red Flash with a conference 11th-best 2.4 assists per game this season.
 
Last Time Out
Saint Francis dropped its first road contest of the conference season 61-37 at Central Connecticut. The game was tied at two points four minutes in before Central Connecticut jumped out to a 15-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. A seven-point, 17-10, game with 6:26 remaining in the second quarter, the Blue Devils ended on a 12-6 run and led 29-16 at the half. Central Connecticut grew its lead to 53-28 at the end of the third quarter and led by as many as 26 in the fourth before earning its 24-point victory.
 
Scouting FDU
The Knights enter Monday's game with a 1-2 conference and 3-13 overall record. After a 67-51 victory over Merrimack, FDU fell 60-56 to Stonehill, who was previously 0-15. The Knights started conference play with a 65-52 loss at Le Moyne. Tenisia Brown leads the team with 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. She has four double doubles this season, which includes two in conference play. Abby Conklin adds a second-best 10.4 points and a team-high 3.2 assists per game and 38.4 three-point field goal percentage this season. As a team, FDU holds a minus-9.9 scoring margin.
 
All-Time vs. FDU
Saint Francis holds a 47-26 all-time advantage over FDU and a narrow 20-16 advantage on the road. The Knights won both matchups last season after Saint Francis won 10 of the previous 12 meetings between 2017-22. Both programs first met in 1986 in an 87-66 victory for FDU. The Knights won the first seven meetings in matchup history between 1986-89.
 
Around the NEC
Sacred Heart continued its undefeated start to conference with a 67-56 win over LIU and now stands 3-0. Both CCSU and Le Moyne remained undefeated at 0-2 with a victory over Saint Francis and Merrimack, respectively. Stonehill defeated FDU 60-56 to earn its first victory of the season. On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Saint Francis visits FDU, Le Moyne visits Sacred Heart, Wagner visits Stonehill and Central Connecticut visits Merrimack in conference play. LIU travels to Chicago State, who will join the NEC next season.
