SELECT GAME NOTES VS. SACRED HEART (FULL GAME NOTES PDF)
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Thursday's game between Saint Francis and Sacred Heart marks the 44th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1999-00 season.
• Since head coach
Rob Krimmel took over as head coach in 2012-13, the Red Flash are 9-1 in the regular season and 10-1 overall against the Pioneers at DeGol Arena and the team has won the last 10 in Loretto.
• The series record at home may seem one sided, but in the 10 regular season meetings under Krimmel, the average difference in score is 3.6 points per game.
• Seven games in the regular season have been decided by four points or less. One game was decided by four points, three games by two points and three games have come down to an assistant coach
Eric Taylor "one-point blowout" special.
• In addition, five times at DeGol Arena Sacred Heart has taken a double-digit lead and the Frankies have come back to win. Last season, the Red Flash came back from a 17-point deficit to win 78-76 on overtime on ESPNU on February 9, 2023, which was the second-largest comeback under Krimmel until the 20-point rally against American on December 2. The squad also rallied from a 15-point margin in a 79-78 win on January 26, 2019, the fifth-best comeback in the Krimmel era.
• Under Krimmel, 18 times Saint Francis has rallied from a 10+ point deficit and the Pioneers are the team that the Red Flash has came back to win the most.
• Conversely, Saint Francis had a 20-point lead in the 2014-15 battle. Sacred Heart came back to tie the game and the Red Flash won the game in the waning seconds of the tilt on an Earl Brown jumper. The Frankies also won in the waning seconds in the 2017-18 battle in Loretto with a Scott Meredith 3-pointer.
• This season is the season of milestones for Krimmel. He won his 150th career game at Lehigh on November 29, coached his 350th game at Wagner on January 6 and his 200th NEC regular season game on January 21.
• Krimmel became the 10th man to serve as a head coach for 200 league regular season games, joining Tom Green (FDU, 452, 1983-09), Howie Dickenman (CCSU, 344, 1997-16), Dave Bike (Sacred Heart, 258, 1999-13), Ron Ganulin (St. Francis Brooklyn, 254, 1991-05), Dave Calloway (Monmouth, 250, 1998-11), Jim Phelan, Mount St. Mary's, 250, 116-134), Glenn Braica (St. Francis Brooklyn, 230, 2010-23), Paul Lizzo (LIU, 225, 1982-95) and Dave Magarity (Saint Francis/Marist, 214, 1982-83, 1987-97).
• Krimmel became the second former Red Flash player to have coached 200 games in the NEC that also coach in Loretto. Magarity played for the Frankies from 1974-78 and then was an assistant coach in Loretto from 1974-78 before serving as the head coach from 1978-83. The 1982-83 season was the first season of the ECAC Metro which would later become the NEC and then he was head coach at Marist from 1986-2004 with the first 10 years with the Red Foxes the team was a member of the NEC.
• With two NEC wins, Krimmel would become the 12th head coach with 100 league wins and would join Green (263), Dickenman (187), Ganulin (129), Calloway (127), Magarity (117), Phelan (116), Braica (116), Andrew Toole (115, Robert Morris, 2010-20), Bashir Mason (111, Wagner, 2012-22), Wayne Szoke (109, Monmouth, 1988-98) and Bike (105).
• Krimmel is currently tied with former LIU head coach and current UMBC head coach Jim Ferry with 98 NEC regular season wins in 13th place after the win against LIU on January 19.
• Back to Magarity, before he left to become an assistant coach at Iona and later head coach at Marist, he was connected with Saint Francis for 13 straight seasons as a player, assistant coach and head coach. Krimmel has been connected with his alma mater for 28 consecutive years. Kevin Porter is the only other alumni to go on to coach the Flash. Porter was a player for Saint Francis from 1968-72 and then after a successful NBA career was the head coach for four years of the Frankies (1983-87).
• Despite the single game at Le Moyne, the Frankies are in the midst of five of six games at home. It is the fourth time under Krimmel the Red Flash will play five of six at home in league play. The team also turned the trick in 2013-14, 2019-20 and 2021-22.
• Saint Francis coaching staff will join the Coaches Vs. Cancer Sneakers and Suits Week initative and will don sneakers along with their usual suits for the games against Sacred Heart and Merrimack to raise awareness in the fight to end cancer. The Red Flash coaching staff are one of the few in the nation that still wears suits for every game.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

Loco, the mascot for the Curve, and Frankie will be available before the game for pictures in the lobby. • Saturday, local school-age students are invited to attend the ESPN+ game for free, and adults will receive a ticket at the $5 group rate. In addition, the team will be available to sign autographs after the game against Merrimack.

LAST TIME OUT
• Saint Francis lost 94-57 in its first trip to Le Moyne since Maurice Stokes' freshman year on Sunday.
• Freshman
Eli Wilborn registered 13 points, while fellow freshman
Carlos Lopez, Jr. had 11 points.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
• Sacred Heart enters the game 10-10 overall and 4-1 in NEC play after downing Wagner 66-61 on Sunday.
• Graduate student
Joey Reilly paced the Pioneers with 21 points, while senior
Alex Sobel (14 points) and redshirt junior
Aidan Carpenter (12 points) also found double figures against the Seahawks.
• Senior
Nico Galette, who missed the game against Wagner, leads the team with 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Sobel leads the team in rebounding (7.3 rpg.) and is second in scoring (11.7), while Reilly (11.7 ppg.) and junior
Tanner Thomas (10.8 ppg.) are also averaging double figures.
TRENDING UP
• Freshman
Eli Wilborn has registered double figures in five of the six NEC games this season, including three-straight games. The freshman is averaging 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in his last three tilts and sits at 12.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in league games.
• Wilborn had pulled down at least five rebounds in the last 10 games and had a block in his last 11 games until the game at Le Moyne on Sunday when he finished with three rebounds and no blocks. Wilborn has registered less than five boards in only five of the 19 games he has played with four of those games coming in his first eight collegiate contests.
• According to @nechoopsron, Wilborn, who is second in the NEC in blocks (1.84), second in field goal percentage (58.5) and third in rebounding (7.1), is looking to become the first freshman since CCSU's Kyle Vinales (scoring, free throws, 3-pointers made) to finish in the Top-5 in the NEC in three categories in 2011-12. Prior to that, you'd have to go all the way back to the 1999-00 season when future NEC Player of the Year Corsley Edwards ended his freshman campaign rated in the Top-5 in rebounding, field goal percentage blocks.
• Freshman
Carlos Lopez, Jr. posted his sixth double figures performance this season and his second on the road after posting 12 points at American on December 2. Prior to the game at Le Moyne, Lopez had been held to single digits in points in four of his last five games with his 21-point outburst being the one exception. Starting with the game against American, the freshman had four 10+ point games in a five-game stretch prior, including four of his last six at home. He was averaging 13.5 points per game in that span.
• Freshman
Aidan Harris tallied nine points and five rebounds against Le Moyne. The point total marked an NEC career high, and the second-most points scored this season after registering 10 points against Pitt Greensburg on November 20. Harris has also hauled in at least five boards six times this season and five times in his last seven contests. He has only grabbed at least five rebounds at home once after pulling in eight boards against Campbell on December 30.
