Last season, the Sharks won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. They were picked first in this season's MAAC Preseason poll and are currently ranked No. 22 in the country. They will open their season against the Red Flash. This will be one of two games between the Red Flash and the Sharks, with the second matchup being during next weekend's Bruno Classic.
Paola Dominguez-Castro and Elena Camarena were named to the preseason all-MAAC team with Dominguez-Castro being named Preseason Player of the Year.
LAST TIME WE MET LIU
The Red Flash last faced the Sharks during the 2022 season, losing 14-12.
Emese Szucs scored three goals in the loss, with Kimberly Frostad scoring two of her own. Isabel Lumley was the lone goalie during the game, making seven saves and preventing the Sharks from scoring in the fourth quarter.
THE WORD ON MICHIGAN
The Wolverines began their 2024 season last weekend, going 0-3 in losses to Hawaii, Fresno State and California who are nationally ranked fifth, ninth, and fourth, respectively. Michigan is currently ranked 11th. A member of the Collegiate Water Polo Association, this game with be the first conference game of the season for both programs. The Red Flash will face the Wolverines at the Indiana Invite next month and could go up against them again in April's CWPA Championship Tournament.
Kata Utassy currently ranks second in the country in goals and points with 13 and 16, respectively. Alex Brown has already tallied 31 saves this season, third in the country in saves per game.
LAST TIME WE MET MICHIGAN
Saint Francis last played Michigan in last year's third-place game in the CWPA Championship, losing 16-6.
Caylah Olay scored two goals for the Red Flash.
THE WORD ON MARIST
The Red Foxes began their season last weekend, going 1-3 in the UCSB Winter Invitational. They defeated Whittier College, losing to No. 3 UCLA, No. 10 UC San Diego and No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer. Marist was selected third in the MAAC Preseason poll.
Ella Baumgarten was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team.
LAST TIME WE MET MARIST
The first and only time the Red Flash have gone up against Marist was in 2022, dropping the game 13-7.
Frostad scored two goals in the loss.
THE WORD ON INDIANA
The Hoosiers' season will begin at this weekend's tournament. They are currently ranked 16th in the CWPA Top 25. Saint Francis will play Indiana again at next month's Indiana Invite.
LAST TIME WE MET INDIANA
Saint Francis last played Indiana last season, falling 13-5.
Grace Raquel started in net for the Red Flash, tallying 12 saves and recording a steal.
