TURNING POINTS
Despite ending the first period tied at 3 goals apiece, LIU kept putting distance ahead of the Red Flash. Heading to the fourth period with a 10-6 lead in favor of the Sharks, Saint Francis had goals by
Maysen Seile (El Cajon, Calif.) and
Kimberly Frostad (Regina, Saskatchewan) in the fourth period but continued to be outscored by LIU.
The Wolverines, currently ranked No. 11 in the country, went on a 10-0 run in the first two periods. The Red Flash prevented a shutout with goals in the fourth period by Sam Eschleman (Reading, Pa.) and Lexanny Gonzalez (Sinking Spring, Pa.) but could not escape from under Michigan's commanding lead.
FLASH MOMENT
After going down three goals in the first part of the first period. Saint Francis scored three of their own with two goals from
Emese Szucs (Budapest, Hungary) and one from
Caylah Olay (Redondo Beach, Calif.).
FLASH NUGGETS
Between the two games, Szucs lead Saint Francis in goals with three.
Megan Marlin (Flower Mound, Texas) and Kayla Rhoads (Oceanside, Calif.) each tallied two assists on the day to lead the Red Flash.
Isabel Lumley (Brisbane, Australia) recorded 17 saves in goal.

Saint Francis will be back in action tomorrow morning for the second day of the Michigan Invite. They will face Marist at 8 a.m. and No. 16 Indiana at 11:00 a.m.
