Men's Volleyball Earns Sweep Over Queens

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 
>>Saint Francis men's volleyball took a straight set win against Queens in the second match of the weekend on Sunday.

>>After tallying 12 kills on Friday against NJIT, Andrew Deardorff led the way offensively with 10 kills.

>>Ryan Parker led the Red Flash defensively with seven digs and 1.5 blocks. He also had 29 assists to engineer the offense to a .415 hitting percentage, a season-best after seven matches.

TURNING POINT OF THE MATCH 
Both teams engaged in a close set one, with 16 tied scores and the highest lead being just three. With the score at 24-23, Nicholas Lynch's kill gave Saint Francis the set win. They'd use the momentum for the next two sets, winning them both and never trailing in either one.

FLASH MOMENTS
Set two began as a close back-and-forth affair, with both teams tied at 13 midway through. With Saint Francis holding a slim 21-19 lead going into the final serves, they proceeded to go on a 4-0 run to take the set, 25-19. The squad had its best performance on both sides in the second set, recording 13 kills, a hitting percentage of .500, and holding the Royals' offense to a percentage of .050.

In contrast to the first two sets, the Red Flash got out to a blistering 9-2 start and never looked back. The closest that the Royals got to cutting the deficit was to four as the Red Flash cruised to a 25-18 win.

FLASH NUGGETS
Brady Stump registered the second-most kills on the team with eight. Nathan Zini had 16 after posting 13 in Friday's match against NJIT.

Lynch had another efficient offensive outing, recording seven kills on seven attacks. For the weekend, the junior middle blocker tallied 15 kills on 17 attacks.

The .415 hitting percentage is the highest that the Red Flash have recorded since posting a .427 percentage against Sacred Heart on February 24, 2023.
