LORETTO, Pa. - The Saint Francis men's and women's golf team will host the Red Flash Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pa.
It is the first time since the spring of 2014 and 2015 that the Red Flash men's and women's golf teams hosted a tournament at Sunnehanna.Â
The men's field will feature West Virginia, Youngstown State, Cleveland State, Holy Cross, Mount St. Mary's, Monmouth, Saint Francis, Mercyhurst, and Bucknell, while the women's field will include Mercyhurst, Purdue Fort Wayne, La Salle, Stonehill, Saint Francis, Monmouth, Bucknell, Mount St. Mary's, Duquesne and Saint Joseph's.Â
Men's players will have timed tee times starting from the first tee, and the women will have timed tee times hitting the links from the 10th tee. The first tee time will be 9 a.m. each day.Â
Ten players each from the Saint Francis men's and women's golf teams will compete in the first Saint Francis-hosted event of their career. Four local players from Cambria and Blair Counties will be competing for the Red Flash:
Sophia Buday (Johnstown, Pa.), Lukas Casino (Johnstown, Pa.), Marie Krug (Loretto, Pa.) and Trent Myers (Altoona, Pa.). In addition, players from surrounding counties and near Pittsburgh will also be wearing the red and black Flash colors for the men's and women's golf teams: McKenzie Gusta (Hermitage, Pa.),
Hunter Jurica (Derry, Pa.),
Joey Miller (Glenshaw, Pa.),
Tanner Mona (State College, Pa.) and
Meghan Zambruno (Mount Pleasant, Pa.).
Fletcher Dasso (Brentwood, Tenn.),
Ben Diskin (Charlotte, N.C.),
Alexander McClain (Reston, Va.),
Toby Webb (Easton, Md.) and
Alex Yong (Stockton, N.J.) will also compete for the men's team, while
Sydney Clements (East Sparta, Ohio),
Anna Crumrine (Newark, Ohio),
Camille Gagnon (Cegep André-Laurendeau, Quebec),
Abigail McCorkell (Schwenksville, Pa.), Samantha Pryzybys (Middleburg Heights, Ohio) and
Bryn Sorge (Richmond Hills, Ga.) will also play for the women's golf team.
Sunnehanna County Club hosted the Sunnehanna Amateur for the 83rd time in June 2024 for men's golf. Players who have competed in the amateur have won 96 major championships, 20 times have been named PGA Player of the Year, and amassed 1,321 PGA victories. Some of the past participants in amateur include Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Scottie Scheffler.
The winner of the Red Flash Invitational for men's golf will receive an invitation to the qualifying round of the Sunnehanna Amateur in June 2025.
