TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
The Red Flash took a 5-4 lead at the 5:39 mark of the first quarter thanks to a 5-0 run. Coppin State responded with a 12-5 run to finish the quarter with a 16-10 lead. The Eagles continued their momentum with a 22-10 second quarter to extend their lead to 18 at half, 38-20.
The third quarter started with the game remaining at an 18-point difference, with the score being 44-26 with 6:57 left to go. Coppin State then went on a 14-8 run to extend the margin to 58-33 at the end of the third. The Eagles ended the game with a 16-5 fourth quarter to secure their win.
FLASH MOMENTS
Saint Francis went on a 5-0 run in the first quarter to take the lead after a
Marissa Shelton three and a fast break layup by
Ineivi Plata off her own steal.
Boyd scored seven points in the second quarter, including a layup to help cut the deficit to 29-16 at one point.
Giselle Eke and Johnson scored back-to-back baskets at 7:37 and 6:57 in the third quarter to keep the Red Flash within striking distance.
Boyd reached double-digit points in the fourth with a three pointer at the 7:19 mark.
FLASH NUGGETS
Johnson made her first start for Saint Francis. The junior transfer started five games for Robert Morris during the 2023-24 season.
Plata tallied a career-high nine points. The freshman recorded three rebounds, two assists, and a steal as well.
Eke registered a career-high five rebounds.
Marina Artero and
Alary Bell each posted four of their own. The 39 rebounds collected by the Red Flash is the most in a game this season.
Six players recorded a steal. The seven posted by the team is tied for the most in a game this season.
