After Chicago State won the third and fourth set, the Cougars maintained momentum to win the match. Burns struck first in the fifth set, but both teams went point-for-point until Chicago State pulled ahead to 8-5. The Cougars continued to pull ahead but kills by Burns and
Kori McClure kept the Red Flash in the set at 12-9. Chicago State was able to widen its lead to 14-10 before winning the match on a block.
FLASH MOMENTS
Tied at 20 apiece in the first set, a five-point run by the Red Flash gave the home team the early lead. After back-to-back errors by the Cougars,
Alexandra Sappia tallied an ace off the back row of Chicago State. McClure then earned back-to-back kills to win the first set 25-20.
Saint Francis had a commanding lead in the second set, taking the set advantage on a three-point run. Ahead 22-15, an attack error by Chicago State began the run. Off the touch, Burns landed a kill from the attack line to earn set point.
Laney Wilson then hit the block attempt, winning the second set.
FLASH NUGGETS
Another career high, Sappia tallied 55 assists in the match.
Rosi led the team in aces with three.
McClure recorded three total blocks to lead the Red Flash.
